Default Make It Rain [UU] [Shoddy]

This team was inspired (somewhat) by this UU Sunny Day Team created by End Fashion.

I saw how well he used UU's and NU's to make a very successful Sunny Day themed team that is pretty badass. So I started looking around UU and NU and I found out that Ludicolo was UU now. So I just started putting down Pokes that succeed in Rain and came up with this. Now this team does good, even better then my previous UU team which won me a Tournament, but it could still use some help and thats where you guys come in.

Anyways let's get on to the team.

The Lead

OMFGaPokeball the Electrode@Damp Rock
EVs: HP/252 Spe/208 SpAtk/48
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Soundproof
Attacks:
-Explosion
-Rain Dance
-Taunt
-Thunder

His speed is 404 making him one of the fastest leads without a item that boosts his speed. I usually Taunt the lead, the proceed to set up Rain. You know the usual Electrode lead. After the rain is set, I either switch out or proceed to Thunder. Explosion is my last resort move.

Rain Support/Sweeper

MuchoLoco the Ludicolo@Damp Rock
EVs: Def/4 Spe/252 SpAtk/252
Nature:Modest
Ability: Swift Swim
Attacks:
-Energy Ball
-Ice Beam
-Rain Dance
-Surf

If Electrode dies, he is my last chance to set up rain. Thus he is my, if not the most, important Pokemon on this team. After the rain is he can sweep. I used to run Life Orb on him but I found myself to be struggling with Life Orb recoil and Rain only lasting for 5 turns, instead of 8. I hope 5th gen makes a Pokemon with the ability Drizzle ._. Anyways his main purpose is to set up rain after Electrode is dead and then sweep.

Physical Sweeper

BiteYoAss the Huntail@Choice Band
EVs: HP/6 Atk/252 Spe/252
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Swift Swim
Attacks:
-Body Slam
-Crunch
-Ice Fang
-Waterfall

It's very crucial for the rain to keep going for this fella. After the rain is up, swift swim kicks in and he is ready to sweep, and with Choice Band+Adamant he can cause havoc. Also I put Body Slam on there because I really saw no other choice, plus it has a chance to ParaHax which I always love. But with a limited move pool of Physical Attacks Body Slam pretty much had to be on this set.

Special Sweeper

AWWWWWW the Gorebyss@Life Orb
EVs: HP/36 Spe/220 SpAtk/252
Nature: Modest
Ability: Swift Swim
Attacks:
-Hidden Power[Grass]
-Ice Beam
-Psychic
-Surf

My special sweeper and after I got swept by one of these a few months ago I knew it had to be on this team, especially since it carries Swift Swim. Life Orb recoil isn't really a worry here and I went with HP Grass instead of Electric because UU doesn't really have Pokemon like Gyarados and it gets things like Gastrodon and Quagsire out of my way. Other then that it's an amazing special sweeper and like Huntail, it's crucial that rain stays up.

Special Wall

TurnMeOn the Lanturn@Lefties
EVs: HP/40 SpAtk/136 SpDef/252
Nature: Calm
Ability: Volt Absorb
Attacks:
-Ice Beam
-Surf
-Thunder
-Thunder Wave

He is here to wall Special Attacker's and also to take the obvious electric attacks from the opponent. Now he is one of my favorite Pokemon and a great wall, but I think he might need a better move set :/ T-Wave and Thunder help while the rain is up, and if the rain isn't up, T-Wave cripples the threats so Huntail and Gorebyss will be able to out speed.

SubPunch

Asshole the Toxicroak@Lefties
EVs: HP/4 Atk/252 Spe/252
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Dry Skin
Attacks:
-Focus Punch
-Ice Punch
-Substitute
-Sucker Punch

He's there to try and sweep while the rain is recovering his HP. This is my favorite Toxicroak set but because he is pretty slow, it doesn't work at times. But once he gets behind a Sub he can take Pokes down. Sucker Punch is there for Ghosts and Psychic types that pose as a threat and Sub+Focus Punch can 2HKO even a Skarmory.

Now that you've seen my team these are possible Pokemon that could make the team:
-Slowbro- Good wall, if he get's up about 3 Calm Mind's he can do some sweeping.
-Uxie- can set up Rain, Screens and Stealth Rock
-Kabutops- Pretty frail but with a Choice Band or Swords Dance he could sweep.
-Omastar: Good for Utility
-Quagsire: With Recover from HG/SS he can be an amazing Physical Wall.
-Gastrodon- Used him in my Diamond game, he is pure win as a wall.
-Milotic-Good wall and Support, but she throws me off for some reason, I only used Milotic about 4 times. Once in Ubers, twice in OU and once in UU. Didn't prove to be to my liking.
-Blastoise- Amazing wall, tank or utility.
-Raikou- If the rain is up and he gets about 2-3 Calm Minds up, Thunder can rape shit.
-Dewgong- With Hydration and this being a Rain Team he can be used well for either Encore or Toxic stall support.
-Floatzel- Amazing speed, good with Choice Band.
-Quilfish- Can set up rain, and with access to Poison Jab he could possibly take out Grass types.
-Sharpedo- Rough Skin is a good ability, his speed is somewhat mediocre but with either Swords Dance or Choice Band he could cause havoc, especially since he has access to Aqua Jet and dark type moves.

*sigh* So I'll take ANY advice under consideration, thanks in advance.

Default Re: Make It Rain [UU] [Shoddy]

There are probably people here who can help better than I can, since I don't know what to look out for in UU, but you said this team is doing well, so what are you having problems with mainly? The first thing I see is that I don't think enough of your Pokes carry Rain Dance; has this been a problem for you yet? Maybe it's working for you in UU, but I'd be afraid Electrode isn't reliable enough to get in again to set up if you don't explode, therefore I don't think you should rely solely on Ludicolo if you're going to need rain for more than 16 turns (or if someone changes the weather on you, though I don't know how common that is in UU). I am currently messing around with an OU Rain Dance team, and I like to have Rain Dance on at least four of them. Remember though, not all of them need a damp rock; I think you should have another guy though whose job it is to support the team and who can come in with a damp rock and do whatever supporting he needs to, and set up rain dance again. Your Ludicolo is tailored for sweeping, so you shouldn't rely entirely on him to set up your rain and then sweep. I'm running the same exact Ludicolo on my OU team, but with Life Orb. So, he has Rain Dance if he absolutely needs it, but his main job is to let someone else set up, and then he gets in when I need him and sweeps.

How are you doing with grass types? I notice this team carries quite a few ice moves, which is good, though you still have three guys weak to grass. Can they handle them effectively?

On that note, how is this team doing with opponents who can take advantage of your rain? For instance, this team may have trouble with an opposing Ludicolo, though at least I don't think you'd have too much trouble with your opponent using water attacks against you (or water types in general). You could try Poison Jab on Toxicroak, though I don't know how worth it that is...

Looking at your list of viable candidates, I would probably replace Gorebyss with one of them (since you have Ludicolo to special sweep for you) for support. I think Uxie would do nicely (I actually considered her for my OU team, but didn't like the idea of leading with her, and I like Jirachi better for support) - she can do a lot to support your team, though make sure if she's doing other support, like rocks and screens, that she does so before Rain Dance goes back up - and she can also U-turn out, which may also help against grass types.

I almost want to suggest Quagsire or Gastrodon for the awesome typing, but your team is already grass weak so I don't know.

Stuff like Slowbro and Raikou - on a Rain Dance team, you're on a timer, and with limited Rain support like your team currently has, you really don't want to waste too much time setting up, at least in my experience.

I hope this is at least of some help, but I also hope someone here can give you better advice for UU.

dukeburger has it pretty much covered. I just want to add something.

This team has a common problem that I see with weather teams (I need to think of a quirky name for it, like "Weather Woes" or "Forecast Syndrome") : This team is almost entirely dependent on the rain. A weather team needs to benefit from the weather it's geared for while not being entirely dependent on it. My UU rain team had three Pokemon that didn't even benefit from the rain. That way, the team could benefit from rain, but if there wasn't a way for the rain to be set up, it was okay. I had other Pokemon that could handle the lack of weather.

Thanks for the plug haha. I'll put this team together and see how it runs later on. At a glance though I think it looks pretty good. Huntail almost always gets the shaft for Kabutops, but I like you using it since it is not owned by priority fighting moves.

My team doesn't have great coverage of all the UU and NU threats.

Yes but so far I don't have a clue who to stick Rain Dance on to, maybe Lanturn but that means I will probably have to give him a Damp Rock too. I might end up making this a OU team because Bronzong can set up Rain and wall shit at the same time.

True but sometimes 5 turns isn't enough.

Yes and Bronzong(if this was an OU team) or Uxie would do that well, it's just that my team making skills fail more then half the time.

So far one of my biggest threats is Venosaur. Sometimes Ice Beam is a 2 to 3 HKO. Fucking bulky shroom.

I ran into a Rain Team the other day but honestly his wans't put together so well. So far every time I ran into another Ludicolo I've taken him down with Gorebyss and Psychic.

Just because I have a big disadvantage doesn't mean I cannot take them down.

Thanks I will be looking for Pokemon that could handle not being in rain. So far Choice Scarfed Mesprit has had wonderful sweeps.

Maybe you make Ludicolo a subseeder? I once got my team raped by a subseeding ludicolo. Plus if you'd give it lefties, it would recover all the hp given to the substitute in 1 turn.

Also Parasect with dry skin might be usefull against opposing water types.

Toxicroak does the same thing with dry skin. Also, i would suggest yoinking someone (Lanturn in specific) for another strong physical attacker. My suggestion is gallade, because you can still benefit from the high base special defense he has, and hit hard.
