Can you make the Pokémon NOT follow you? Playing on Yellow really pissed me off because Pikachu was there constantly.
So in answer to the question, I wouldn't want ANY Pokémon up my arse all the way through the game; thank you very much.

No, the pokemon has to follow you. The only time when a pokemon isn't following you is when you're riding your bike.

It's not really that big of a deal though, it's just one sprite following your character around. If it really makes that much of a difference, your enjoyment of pokemon is easily-ruined.
