Also, for any of you who have read the first 3 chapters of my fanfic The Rise of Roark: A Sinnoh Story. Do you think I should ever make Cranidos evolve? I have my mind made up but I'd really like some feedback on your opinions.

Roark has to be strong to beat gym leaders, but he's weak in the games. So, here's my suggestion. Let Roark battle and catch a couple more Pokes, and a couple of gym leaders. Then, you can make it so that Cranidos evolves, and Roark eventually becomes a gym leader. Then, because he is a relatively minor leader, league rules make him use a basic pokemon. For this reason he uses something like his Rampardos's offspring, OR a totally different Cranidos. You can also make it so that Rampardos wants to stay and train somewhere during his travels, so Roark has to use a weaker one for gym battles...I guess.
Bullfinch is a member of our group and that was his question. The thing about the games is I don't wan't to overcomplicate things like that. To me, the ONLY reason his pokemon are at the level they are at is because it's a requirement of the game. In actual "Sinnoh" all the gym leaders would be relatively strong. They wouldn't let ANYBODY be a gym leader. I'm using a character from the game and putting him in a more "realistic" Sinnoh. I don't want to add rules (like he must have weak pokemon as a gym leader) or loopholes that would supress his character and the story. See where I'm coming from?
I think crainiados shouldn't evolve, and that Roark should get another Rampardos seperate to his Crainiados.

I thought you wanted to follow game canon, and that's why I said what I said. Instead, I think you should let him evolve, and just write our own path.

Well, it's your fic, so maybe you should try this, you can have Cranidos evolve and Roark can become strong, then when you get the the part where he becomes a gymleader you can make it that there's a rule that says that gymleaders can only use their weakest Pokemon during challenges, so you can have him catch another Cranidos, Geodude and Onix.
