I'm one of those guys who obsess over saying the style of the show correctly. For starters, I'm glad that a group like this exists since the others are just too serious when watching the show. Can the group's name be changed to "What happened to just enjoying the anime?" instead of cartoon? It's more accurate, so Wynaut :P?

"Anime" is what the Japanese call cartoons. So it still stands.

Nope. Anime is the art style of the show. A cartoon is like what you see in Spongebob and an Anime is what you see in Dragonball and Naruto.

Nope. In Japan, the term anime does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it serves as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world.

What happened to just discussing the Tv show rather than discussing what to call it?

Haha, I have to agree with the poster above. This whole discussion does kind of defeat the purpose of the group, at least it seems that way to me. ^^

Isn't the point to look at the show in a relaxed way without scrutinizing over every detail and technicality?

PS- I personally generally refer to animes as cartoons, but I don't know if that's correct.

Cartoon and Anime mean the same thing in Japan, but it seems that, around the world, Animé are viewed as always being more mature, although i don't get it.

Then why don't we have anime from countries other than Japan? And why does old anime look like 90s cartoons?
