It is, kinda. IIRC, in the light novel the solution involves the SOS-dan having a study group. Of course, the light novel didn't take 7-8 weeks to read.

Seems like a bloody waste of episodes for Endless Eight like half of the new episodes. Unless these 8 are not even half of the new episodes...

Maybe they're just doing it so that there's enough story left for season three... if they ever do it. After all, novel 10's taken a while, and there's no real indication that 11's gonna happen at all...
