I think it's there. I think that the connection really is there and it was meant to be noticed, but I don't think it'll ever come true in the anime because it would be way too controversial for American audiences. I don't think ANY relationship with Ash will go beyond the initial crush stages. A large portion of the audience who watches Pokemon nowadays wouldn't appreciate it in the least and it very well may kill Pokemon. Of course, if it does happen I won't complain. I'll be thrilled. c:
