I LOVE Yu-Gi-Oh!... as long as I point out that I only like GX, 5D's and (especially) Zexal.
I don't like the original Yugi/Joey/Kaiba series as much, though.
it's a fun game, but i stopped watching the anime after GX,
i heard Zexal's good, so i may watch that
I used to watch the anime on TV and have an old starter pack but I haven't seen any new episodes or played it for about 9 years. While I've been member of these forums I have become interested in the franchise again and have bought the first 3 VHS volumes from charity shops. I've been wanting to start reading the manga from the first series but it seems to be very rare in the UK and I don't know if the anime series of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's or Zexal are being shown on any Bristish channels. After I do at least one of those two things in the previous sentence I plan to start playing the TCG again.
@ Water Max - you should be able to buy the manga in Waterstones, or if all else fails Amazon. I got a bunch before Borders closed.
I used to be really into Yu-Gi-Oh!. I remember I had a really crappy Relinquished-centric deck.
I think I stopped playing sometime before 5D's came out. I guess the hobby just became too expensive for me.
As for the anime, I only watched the first, the one with Yugi Moto and his gang. And just a few episodes, at that.
I still like the series. Pretty much a fan of all the animes except GX, as I haven't watched a single episode from it yet. Favorites are Zexal and 5Ds. I find the original series interesting, but highly overrated. Why? As a player, I've gotten sick of seeing Yugi decks and running them over without much of a challenge. (Seriously guys, they're just as creative as metagame decks now.) I also grew to find it overrated thanks to the fanboys basically acting like everything following it was crap. :/ Come on, can I be blamed really?
I tend to look at myself as a semi-competitive player, as I tend to play in such settings. (Semi because I avoid using meta decks like the plague.) I'm a regular at the Dueling Network, since playing in real life is too costly imo. I have a few rare cards from the 5Ds era though.
I like the series.
I pretty much only enjoy the Duelist Kingdom arc of the first series. Mostly because it reminds me of "Duelist of the Roses" for PSII. Loved that game.
I really was into Yu-Gi-Oh since watching the first episode of the original Duel Monsters Anime and watched the anime from Episode 1 series 1 to the last episode of the the second last season. as well as all the dubbed yugioh GX episodes before i stopped watching them. As for the TCG came itself i used to collect them and i would get structure decks often, and eventually i would have a decent FGD+Creator Special Summon Deck. I was quite a skilled at Yu-Gi-Oh but stopped collecting when they introduced synchro monsters and soon realized when the creators of Yu-Gi-Oh cards would introduced more new typesof monsters and what not as well as increasing Power Creep of newer card effects. That is when i stopped playing altogether, it was just to expensive to try and keep up with the current mainstream.
