She looked up at the glaring sunshine, its rays bringing heat to her body. She then turned to see Umbreon padding along slowly towards her. She wont be running then. "Thank you." Said the Umbreon gratefully. He bent his head down and scoffed up the ripe berries in a few bites. The he turned, licking his face. "What is your name, young one?" He asked her. "Autumn." She replied, "You?". "I go by many names in this forest, but you may know me as Void." He replied, and stretched with a growl.
Void ate, at a minute later was healed. "Good," he said. Suddenly, something rustled in the bushes. Void Snarled at it, but stopped as soon as it peeked out. Autumn ran around to see who it was. On sight, she identified it as an Espeon. Void seemed to know it as a friend.
"Good morning, Void," the Espeon said with a smile, the sort that could have meant anything in the world.
"Mystic," he replied, his tone neutral. Mystic tilted her head to Autumn. "And who's this? Another apprentice? You are beginning to make a habit out of them, aren't you?"
"This is Autumn," Void said, and Autumn murmured a greeting in response. Mystic flashed her a patronizing smile.
Autumn managed to mumble, "Void, who is this?" Void responded, "This is Yonder- I mean, Mystic. She changed her name because she thought it was too masculine. She's my friend." "We were raised by the same Trainer, too," Mystic added. Autumn thought for a moment. "Wait, you had a trainer?" "I'd rather not talk about it," Void interrupted. "Mystic, can you take Autumn here to the cave? There is someplace I must go." "There always is. C'mon, kid, follow me."
Autumn shot a panicked look at Void. She hadn't even known him for an hour and already he was passing her off to strangers? Void didn't look at her, merely padding away from them with a martyred air.
Mystic gave her the same enigmatic grin as earlier. "Come along, then, Autumn. I promise I won't bite. You don't look very tasty, anyhow." Autumn paused, for just a moment longer, before reluctantly following the beautiful Espeon.
"So you've always been wild, then?" Mystic asked as they went.
Autumn did not know what to think. This Espeon had come out of the blue, and now was taking her to some random cave. "I did not wake up to do this." Autumn growled. Mystic turned, comprehension on her face. "Void made you do this?" she asked calmly. "Yes!" Autumn replied. Espeon turned to sit gracefully in front of the Eevee, her tail coiled around her body. "He just wants to help, he's had a rough life so far. I wouldn't be an Espeon if it weren't for him."
"Autumn, please. If Void didn't trust me, he wouldn't allow me to take you to our home." Autumn sighed. Why was she doing this? Before she could protest, the words "Fine. I'll go," leaked out of her mouth. No stopping it now. "We're not that far. Just stay close and everything will be fine."
Autumn nodded and padded alongside Mystic, who walked casually through the undergrowth of the dense forest. They trundled for a good 5 minutes, until she could make out the shadow of the huge mountain which signaled the end of the treeline. She had never been this far before. "The cave is just a few more minutes away." Mystic told Autumn, "There you will meet Void's other apprentice, and your comrade." Autumn was confused, she was not the only one?
Suddenly, a wild Roserade jumped out of a shrub. Mystic Quick attacked it before dodging its Poison Sting. The Roserade ran around, avoiding Mytic's Zen Headbutt, forcing her to use Swift. After being hit with a Razor Leaf, she finished of the opponent with Confusion. "Hurry up, Autumn. I've got to get home. I need Oran Berries..."
Had she been on a leisurely walk just this morning? Autumn reluctantly walked away from Mystic and entered the cave. A feeling of oppression descended on her, like the darkness was physically pushing down on her. It became harder to breathe, and as the cave grew even more lightless, she saw a shape dart past her and nearly knock her off her feet in excitement.
"Let me guess--Void's new apprentice?" It was an Eevee with his fur tousled. "I'm Stalwart. Nice to meet you!"
