I'm so sorry. It tore me apart when my dog, Barney got it. He was rescued from a year of living locked up, being neglected and abused. Despite this, he was always loyal and sweet. When he died, I didn't lose a pet, I lost my brother. An awful thing was that when I told this girl "Barney has bone cancer," she started cracking up because she thought I was talking about the dinosaur. I still remember watching him slip away from me, and not being able to help. The strange thing was that I was the one comforting the vet as he cried. That was one of the most painful things I've ever gone through, and it still haunts me. One of my grandmas got skin cancer, and I wish it was her who died instead of him.

My paternal grandmother, who I called Bunna, passed away from lung cancer a month before I turned 3. Ironically, it was the day before the "big ice storm" (called the North American Ice Storm of 1998 by Wikipedia, in case you were curious). My maternal grandmother, Grammy, is a breast cancer survivor. My paternal grandfather, Grampy, had a bout of skin cancer the summer before last, but is totally fine now. :) My friend's mom is battling breast cancer right now, and another friend's mom has cancer (not sure what kind). One of my mom's friends has a son who's battling cancer, too. (He's 6, but he's in good spirits and seems to be doing really well.) My mom also had a bone tumor in her arm when she was 12, and it was removed. I think it was probably benign, though, since she didn't get chemo or anything, just surgery. One of my classmates from 3rd grade died of cancer a year or so after we were in the same class - I never saw her after that, so I only found out when I was in 7th grade from a mutual friend. And I think that's all.
