Saw it in one of those scholastic book club leaflets that were given out at school every 2 months, and that's basically it. I am now a dedicated fan, and one treasure I absolutely want in my collection of books is the complete calvin and hobbes leather back.
i was lucky, my dad had garfield, far side, family circus, herman, and ofc, calvin and hobbes books. he had the whole sets of these, and i could read them for hours. i was also a loner like calvin, so it really hit home when i read all the stuff he did to substitute friends.
My grandfather loved it, my parents love it, and me and my sister love it. My first book was The Revenge of the Baby-Sat, which we got in 1994. I got my first treasury from my grandfather when I was 6 and I loved it. My favorite book is probably Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat because of the cartoons inside and that great title!
