I remember at my elementary school, there was a section in the library for comic books, and the only books I ever checked out for a long time were Calvin and Hobbes books. I think the first strip I read was the "Summer Itinerary" one at the end of one of the books (I can't remember which). My favorites were always The Days Are Just Packed and Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat. I really liked the strips that both spoke about something and were funny at the same time, such as the wagon rides.

So, what hooked you into Calvin and Hobbes?

I can't remember, it was so long ago. All I know is that it just happened and it still is.

One of my old friends used to have a Calvin and Hobbes book, so we read it before school. I also used to rent out those books from the library.

Now I still have one of the comic books: The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes.

Elementary school, one of my teachers left a Calvin and Hobbes book laying around. I, being a curious little bugger, picked it up and read. Within moments I was laughing and have been tracking down and reading em ever since.

1st grade. I find Something Under the Bed is Drooling in my school library. I read and am enchanted.
Now I own every collection except The Days Are Just Packed. I think I can honestly attribute a good portion of my vocabulary to Calvin and Hobbes.

My grandma gave me "Something Under the Bed is Drooling" for Christmas '05, and I really liked it so I got the Complete Collection in '06. XD

I found the first Calvin & Hobbes book at a yard sale in about 2006. I had heard of the comic beforehand but had never read it, and since it was only about 50 cents I decided to get it. I loved it, and got a couple more for Christmas. I think I now have every C&H book.

When I was younger, my neighbors lent me a collection of C&H comics to read. I would take that book everywhere.
    I don't think I brought it back.

My mom has the Authoritative treasury. I found it and loved the crap out of it. It's in such bad shape now I feel really bad about it.
I got a bunch more books though, and it really added to my vocabulary. Love it.

I started reading it in the local newspaper back when I was a teen. (Yeah, I am THAT old!) Calvin reminded me a lot of myself so I kept reading and became a fan. I even have a plush tiger--the poor thing is buried somewhere--that I got at Christmas when I was 16. I named him Hobbes. :)
