As some of you may know, for a really long time I have been working on editing (See: rewriting) a novel that I originally wrote three years ago as part of an "Extended Project" at college. I have been very critical of my work, hoping to make it as presentable as it can be. On New Years Day, I made a resolution that 2013 would be the year that I finally approached literary agents and 3 days in...I have completed that resolution.

I approached my first agent. So nervous xD

12 days later, I got my first rejection. I now feel like I have went through an initiation ceremony or something. Considering that they said they usually reply within a week, I'll choose to be optimistic about it taking almost 2.

EDIT: Sent a submission to another one.

One that I do wonder though is...should I send only to ones with fewer clients, or should I also send to the ones with 100+ clients? :S.

I remember my first rejection! In a way it's sort of a good feeling. I, at least, felt like it demystified the process if nothing else. Best of luck with your next one!

As for going for ones with greater or fewer clients... I don't know. Maybe a mixture? I think the most important thing is looking for ones who have represented reasonably similar works to yours in the past.
