My interest in science and technology comes from Bill Nye's show along with one experiment in one of his books leading to a hobby. In his book Big Blast of Science he had an experiment called "Ionosphere" which involved listening to the AM band at night and noticing the effects of the said atmospheric layer. Since I tried this I have been getting better and better receivers along with antennas with more and more gain which paid off as the longest distance I have reported was nearly 5,000 miles! No question about it his show certainly had an impact on me and led to a long standing interest.
Lemme say this: I joined this group because of the song. If you throw a mention of that song in the group name, your usebase will triple.
Nononono, it's not only the song. Bill Nye the Science Guy just pwns in general.
Has anyone ever noticed that he looks like a doppelganger of Abraham Lincoln?
That's exactly what I was thinking too Atara xD
I watched it when I was a toddler. Then we got to watch it again in elementary school. I know, I'm crazy, but it and the Magic School Bus were my favorite shows when I was little. And they hold a dear place in my heart.
How are you crazy?
What I liked about it was that it was comprehensible, but not condescending. Bill explained things to the kids so they could understand, but still challenged them to think and try some of it out for themselves.
I wish I could remember how to build that solar eclipse viewer.
Because I watched it as a toddler.
Bill Nye is the very reason that I rocked at science even when I was in kindergarten and everyone else was still learning how to spell animals' names! In my whole school career (including high school) I've never gotten lower than a solid B for any science class on my report card. So Bill Nye, wherever you are, rock on! The BMGf thread...OF SCIENCE!!
One time in middle school, I had an assignment where I was supposed to watch episodes of a science-themed show and write what I learned in each episode. All I had to do was pull out my Bill Nye the Science Guy tapes and I was set. (One of my classmates even asked if he could borrow the tapes.)
