Well, their typing and movepools would still distinguish them, and hopefully GF makes MegaTile more physically oriented, but basically yeah.

Mega Swampert should get regenerator, it's probably the best ability it could get considering it has no healing moves.

Mega Sceptile should get something tinted lens or contrary, the latter preferbly as a part dragon type with draco meteor. Unlike a lot of people I hope they keep mega Sceptile special, most megas are already physical and Sceptile doesn't really have any strong physical moves outside of what, outrage? Tinted Lens allows its grass moves to hit a lot of targets neutral it wouldn't otherwise (game freak is ignoring the larger issue here that is the messed up type chart), and allows its dragon moves to hit steel types as well. Not overpowered because it only gets dragon pulse so energy ball would be stronger in most situations anyway. Contrary is cool too, but it really wants draco meteor with that. Grass/Dragon would be a great defensive type for sceptile, because with 3 quad resists it would still be able to find chances to switch in even without much bulk.

So...X-Scissor, Night Slash, Crunch, Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Brick Break and Leaf Blade are weak?

Yes. A super effective night slash is only 10 points stronger than a neutral leaf storm and that's even without factoring in stab.

I wasn't asking if they were weaker than Leaf Storm. I was asking if they were weak in general.

I dunno, this is probably just me preferring coverage over raw power.

Why bother looking at the moves devoid of the context they're in (i.e., the Pokemon that uses them). Earthquake, for instance, is a strong move, but why would you bother considering them on a Pokemon like Lucario, who has Close Combat?

Fact of the matter is, none of those moves are stronger than Sceptile's STAB, and given that Mijzelffan wants a Contrary Mega Sceptile, Leaf Storm and Draco Meteor is going to be your go-to moves. With that said, Draco meteor is still exclusive to natural Dragon Pokemon, not those that attain the type after Mega Evolution. Even if there was a way to do it, I'd still think Contrary should be left to Serperior--let it become Grass/Dragon.

I really don't want any of the starter's Mega Evolution causing it to make another set of starters useless by copying what they do. I'd prefer they get something unique.

    something like

    Mega Swampert
    Water/Ground
    Mold Breaker
    110/120/135/110/120/50

The increased special attack is notable, as it allows it to use Scald and Ice Beam more effectively. Give it Recover and you've got one hell of a tank on your hands. Earthquaking levitators, Stealth Rocks and Toxic against Magic Bounce users, Scald against water immunities, Ice Beam against Multiscale... Mold Breaker has lots of nice little bonuses; many you wouldn't even think of. Another nice option would be Shed Skin, as then you give zero fucks about status and can make better use of Curse.
Here's something I just learned about Mould Breaker: if you use a move that forces the opponent out, the newcomer's abilities are ignored. Do you know what this means? If a Levitate Pokemon comes in, they are affected by (Toxic) Spikes or Sticky Web. Clear Body Pokemon are similarly affected by Sticky Web even though they are supposed to be immune to it. It does not affect Defiant users or Magic Guard users, though. Of course, there is also the benefit of forcing out Espeon through Magic Bounce so it doesn't get cheeky with Baton Pass.

    Thanks for reading.

First off, YES to Mega Johto Starters. Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes!!! Unpopular opinion here, but I think Johto had some truly amazing Starters. Also, I'd love to be able to legitimately say "Mega Meganium."

With that said, Sceptile and Swampert also need megas. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if Blaziken didn't already get one, but she does, so fair is fair. Who would choose Treecko/Mudkip instead of Torchic if Torchic had a clear unfair advantage over its counterparts? No, we need to even the playing field, at least. And also, not give any of them two Megas. Fuck you, Charizard.

I'd love for Sceptile to get a physical boost too. Leaf Blade was its signature move in Gen 3 and it totally rocked, and still sort of does in later generations except for that 20% drop in damage output due to Sceptile actually being more Specially oriented than physical. (I believe GF did not account for this in Gen 3, as it was not an issue then, and simply let it slide in Gen 4 onwards.)

Exactly. So either Sceptile/Swampert get Megas or no Blazikenite for you. IMHO.

I guess if Mega Sceptile gets tough claws as his ability that would work out well as a physical sweeper. Not a very good one with it's grass typeing but it could work.

What if there's a Mega Swampert and it gets Drizzle? Anyone mentioned that yet? Not only do you cut Solarbeam by half but Swampert is immune to Thunder. Kyogre/Politoed can't say that...
