Well, Ash or whoever has to actually train their Pokemon before they just go to another gym or contest like that. So going to gym after gym would be over top failure for Ash. So filler episodes are necessary for training purposes.
I think they are necessary, in a way. To give the viewers some sense of how the Pokemon acts and for Ash to probably catch it. :dodgy:
I, myself, though.... Am getting sick of this filler. I mean, who cares what Cilan is cooking and who cares if some random Pokemon gets caught by Ash!? I mean, it'll just get sent to the box, anyway. I didn't mean to offend anyone, Cilan's cooking looks pretty good, actually. But still... Is it that important? :nono:
It's wasting time. N could be showing up right now and making the show AWESOME:-D!!! He's exactly what this show needs right now. I also want some eye-candy.. Not that Cilan is bad looking, or anything. But I want N!
Oh, and on a side note, I want Drayden to come back in a filler episode. Or an important one, whichever shows him more.:-|
Fillers are important because they make the writers seem like they're doing something. Do you know how many unnecessary filler episodes have we been trolled with? That's not including the Meowth arc.
Fillers are fine, it only matters by the writing. They show progression. Without them, well, yeah. However, some of the new fillers are just......plain......as comedy made the fillers funny back in Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto. The comedy deprived throught the sagas, AG then DP. Then BW. Aye, it matters.
stop the fillers and bring in team plasma and N. the writers are wasting our time with needless fillers that are totally unrelated to the whole story which no one would care.
I thought the majority of Johto's fillers were bad except the Wobbufett ones and some of the battle-centric ones like Heracross Vs. Scizor etc.
The fact that nearly 70% of Johto's episodes were filler is truly mind blowing. 157 episodes with about 70% of them being unimportant with a bland COTD and a pokemon with a problem.
Fillers are needed, but not just 30 episodes of it at a time. I mean, maybe four or three episodes to get to a gym. It was like Ash and them were walking for a YEAR to get to Nimbasa! And not even Nimbasa city, but TOWN!
I like some filler when it's funny or just weird. But like most things, it's best in moderation.
Also every saga has share of bad fillers,Johto wasnt only case.
If all fillers were like this,i wouldnt mind excessive use that much.
Also i guess you didnt watched Master Quest than though, which is pity because that season was best part of Johto in quality not falling behind AG.It was more about storyline and development than rest of this region with most good things happening there.
Lastly, not sure what you mean but Misty had storyline. It wasnt focused on enough but she had goal of water master, complex of inferiority from older sisters, desire to learn everything she can about water types etc.
Whether people like or dont like fillers, they are needed in this show being essential part of it.They serve as way to prolong region before new games come out along with bringing lighthearted tone and comedy to this show.Watching only gyms, contests, episodes focused on pokemon training etc can only go for so far not having enough stamina and potential to carry out large sagas which needs to last for 3 to 4 years on its own.
Not to mention non plot related episodes gives writers room to use more of their creativity with anime not being treated only as marketing tool following games with some of best episodes in pokemon being exactly fillers.
As long writers dont exaggerate with it being well written and not on cost of main characters development,i dont have any problem with them.
However, I do agree that filler is necessary. I just wish that the quality of filler was sometimes higher, and that the same plots weren't reused all the time (to varying degrees of effectiveness).
