Thread: Anyone else's family not get it?

"Gotta catch tham PEEK-a-CHUES!" or "Poke-EEE-mons." I usually don't care but it gets really annoying at times.

I've been there more times than I'd care to count. My dad stresses the word "PokEEEmon", and my mom really gives me a load of verbal shit for having different interests than the rest of my family. That's why rule number 1 here is "When in doubt, always blame Nathan."

...And they've taunted me for a bunch of other reasons, including my sexuality, my obsession with Fire Emblem, etc...

That's pretty much in here. My mom's rule- "Abby's happy? Let's pick on the next thing that comes out of her mouth and call her oversensitive when she gets offended. Then we'll make fun of her cosplaying ex!"

Only thing she makes fun of me for is dating guys that are younger than me, and calls me immature and childish for it.

My mom's quite supportive. c: My dad on the other hand... e_e

Oh, boy, I've got a loooooong list. Anyway...

-My mom thinks I'm crazy for liking ultra-violent video games. They will not make me violent. I'm smart enough to know that it's just a damn video game. *sigh*
-My mom thinks I'm crazy for walking over two miles to McDonald's just to eat lunch. (I live about three miles from McDonald's and I walk down there sometimes)
-I get crap from my mom for not wanting to be religious. (I'm an atheist but she won't admit it)
-Another of my mom-isms, "Your boyfriend doesn't have a job? Dump him." Okay, one thing, my ex used to be in the fucking military (he was in the Air Force) and that is a JOB. Dear loard.
-My mom says I'm an artist, but she doesn't give a flying shit about what I draw or what I'm interested in. She even bought me a pack of markers for Xmas one year. All of them were dead.
-My mom treats me like I'm six, but I'm god damn TWENTY. Jeez.

Uh boy, here we go...

My mom thinks I'm an oddball for liking Japanese... anything pretty much. Music, Anime, Games. She thinks I'll move to Japan and marry a girl there... Whenever I buy *anything* online, she asks "Is it another Japanese THING?" -____-

Dad, not so much. He occasionally looks at the TV to see what I'm watching, but doesn't make that much of a fuss about it.

And yes, they know I still play Pokemon. They just think of it as another Video Game. Hell, I don't think they know it came from Japan.

Well, I'm pretty lucky. I have a supportive family and no one gives me a hard time about what I'm interested in. They even know about my involvement with Pokémon and they support me.

Sure, sometimes they don't really get why I like something, but I try to explain and usually, it works.

Also, my mom thinks that Pokemon is just a show about these kids and adults who throw red & white balls that emit wierd creatures. -_- Mothers.

My family don't make fun of me. I MAKE FUN OF THEM.

That's how it goes:

My sister usually tries to make fun of me but I just don't care, then I say TR's motto or shout "Pikachu! I choose you" or whatever, just to annoy her because she dislikes Pokémon that much. She says it's embarrasing for her to have such a geeky brother, so when we hang out together, I usually end up saying something out of context about Pokémon, Harry Potter or whatever and she blushes in front of her friends due to shame. It's soooo fun XD

LOL my dad does the same thing to me. "You look like your friends's father" he told me once (well to be honest, I do because I wear a beard and I'm going bald which makes me look like I'm 40, although I'm not more then 5 years older). Cue the cliched "act your age" lecture.

My family's OK with it, I think they might actually like it a bit. It's the damn idiots at my school that don't know what the heck originality is. They all want to be soccer-obsessed socialites hypnotized by Call of Booty. Even. The. Stupid. 3rd. Graders. Actually, it's mostly the little kids that make fun of me. Barely anyone in my grade knows about it, and those who do don't care.

Well where to start

1.People complain for wasting my money on cosplaying i made my two costumes by hand.
2.My little brother tells me to stop watching anime and this comes from a guy who watched the new crap on Nickelodeon.
3.People try to tell me i shouldn't be a police officer.
4.People tell me to get rid of my guns i have never shot anyone with them but i will if i have to.
5.I get nagged at for being a atheist but from a co-worker not my family since by dad and brother are atheists to.
6.But i thing i do get nagged at by my dad is not voting.

Well, Im pretty sure they think Im weird for spending alot of time playing Pokemon and being on the computer.

My family is constantly making fun of my interest in Pokemon.
