Thread: X and Y versions name theory

So looking at the titles of the new Generation 6 games, I believe that this series of games may have something to do with DNA. Part of the reason for this is because after reading a post where someone mentioned DNA, it hit me. In DNA, X and Y are chromeosones that are key parts of it. This theory may be true, but I'm not stating its 100% accurate. Plus we have Pokemon like Mewtwo, Deoxys, Genesect, and other prehistoric pokemon (by the way, I do not consider Mewtwo, Deoxys, and Genesect as legendary Pokemon).

Also look at the japanese logo for the games. Its got a DNA symbol in it.

Duh, X and Y chromosomes. Perhaps the X legendary is female and the Y one is male? Maybe the theme is gender roles! And science!

Yeah that would be offensive. But the internet would do it if Gamefreak didn't.

I believe the names of Pokemon X and Y are named after two the different dimensional planes, which Pokemon Z that will probably be the deluxe version of both games. There are 3 planes in a 3 dimensional figure, they are the X, Y, and Z planes. And since these are the games that are the first Pokemon games rendered in full 3D and have made a jump onto the next gen handheld console that has features that promote 3D visualization, it is highly plausible that these version games are named after the different dimensional planes in a 3 dimensional world.

I think it's 'spose to be based off of a X and Y axis of a table.

If the theme is dna the four colors of lights on x-deer's antler might represent the four nucleotide bases...maybe.

I'm willing to bet it's a double meaning, both the axes and the chromosomes.

What interests me is the fact that the English titles don't appear to use the word "version". Any ideas what's up with that?

It's about time they did that to be fair. Everyone calls the original games Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, not Pokemon Red Version and Pokemon Blue Version.

I have no idea why they would drop the "version" thing, though it seems like a small detail, nobody really says the word version when referring to them all the time, I know I don't.

I think it may be a double meaning with both the axis and DNA theme, certainly interesting and I can't wait to learn more. I dont know if that's true or not, but it would be cool.

They ran out of Colours/ Gem Stones is my guess..

That's true as well, but remeber the theme from Black and White was like Yin and Yang (truth and ideals, I think this is flipped but close).

I hadn't though of that! Oddly I just started taking a biology class.
