Thread: X & Y Compatibility with B & W

It's almost guaranteed that there will be backwards compatibility. If anything gen VI appears to only be a graphical overhaul more than a game data one, and then we all know how the Gen III thing went...not that it was entirely their fault for FIXING the series but still...best to avoid such a meltdown.

What I'm hoping for is a free app for the 3DS which will work like a Box RS thing for transfers; choose all pokemon you want to transfer in your Gen V game (boxes at a time if necessary), it saves to the app and to the cart, then you insert your Gen VI cart and choose in the app or game to transfer into the game. On a side note, it really is about time to get rid of the banning of transferring HM-knowers. That's just illogical, and then there's the item thing. Yes, I know you don't necessarily want us to bring in 100 pokemon with master balls, but either way cheaters will get our balls so don't bother stopping us from BRINGING ALL ITEMS in.

The item thing I can see not happening, especially the way TM's are in Gen V assuming they keep that the same. But I still don't see why HM knowers couldn't be transferred in some form. If you're transferring all your HM Pokemon, you're probably done with the game. The cinnabar island scenario seems like a pretty sketchy one to me. Can't you trade Gen IV to Gen IV Pokemon knowing HM's? I could be wrong but I thought you could, which would present the same issue, and in a way an easy fix. It just bothers me that there's no way to move a flying or surfing pikachu into the newer games.

I don't see the concern. The 3DS can process wireless signals for DS games, so I don't know why people would think that it wouldn't be able to communicate with any DS Pokemon titles for one-way transfers, like PalPark, or the PokeTransfer Lab.

Gens IV, V, and VI are all compatible with 3DS, I see no reason for them to be incompatible for transfer.

I'm hoping for a 3ds app so I don't need to borrow a friends ds. It's just extra hastle for no reason.

Also am I the only one whos tired of these stupid mini games? Let me just transfer as many as I want and make it an instant transfer.

No I tire of them as well, especially if I happen to have misplaced my stylus.

On the topic though I would like to at least go between gen V and VI.

I too am sick of the minigames, they were so mind-numbingly useless, boring and time-wasting.


I'm also hoping for a transfer app on the 3DS, as this clearly can be done similarly to Pokémon Dream Radar. I have an extra DS Lite, but I have misplaced the charging cable for it, and I don't want to be forced into repurchasing the charging cables just to be able to transfer my old 'mons.

You're not alone. I'd much rather get to pick as many as I want (more than 6 dammit) and have them transferred as fast as possible.

Does anyone know any Japanese? It says something at roughly 1:30 about "DSi LL (I think it means XL) / DSi / DS Lite / DS" on the official trailer:



It might be off-topic, but it could mention transferring Pokemon, or whether it will/won't be available for those platforms. Sorry if it's unrelated.

Because I dislike its evos and Despised the other starters and there evos as well. and seeing this Attachment 83665 on bulbapedia bothered me especially if i put her on HG (walking behind you)and i can picture all the pidgey's Farfetch'd's, Spearow's Starly's and HootHoot's , picking stuff from on her back and the tree i picture a bird nest in it. And i think who going to think that thing is powerful in battle until it using leaf storm, Crunch and Iron tail and Solorbeam.

I think its saying the game can't be used in those systems? but then against i don't know Japanese. CAN WE PLEASE GET A TRANSLATOR IN HERE ASAP? PLEASE!!

The first You understand which is me not liking the Evolutions am i correct? And the second you don't understand that i actually like to think I'm in the games i play and how would you like to get picked on like that i know i wouldn't?

Toto, Considering Black and White were 256MB each, This'd have to be at least 720MB, Considering all the sprites and animation. It would take hours to download (Off my internet anyway) and I doubt they'd even fit it. I'm afraid it'll be stuck in the cartridge.

(Its worth a shot, Though, Then they could use the dream radar trade function >:D)

Also, let us move at least a PC Box at a time. 6 Pokémon at a time is a nightmare when you're trying to transfer an entire Pokédex over.

It's probably going to be compatible. Gen 5 and 6 aren't exactly faraway gens. And I don't see GF removing a transfer function as it is quite important.

I just hope they come up with something more efficient. One-console, maybe.

I honestly can't see them using one console transfers, as a corporation they will want to maximize profits by having you buy two systems. Converting the sprites to polygons might be a bit tricky, though I'm sure they will figure it out because as some people have said, transferring is very important for those who have put alot of effort into Gen III and above. I just hope no stupid minigame this time
