Well if the Poke-experto guy says its flying by golly it is! Seriously though that last, one I just dunno. Even from a trusted source 7 months is way too early, unless its getting confirmed this month.

Well after seeing it in the trailer I certainly don't think it's a Normal-type anymore. Next week should be fun.

As Chespin and Zeta noted, Sylveon's ribbons are clearly not wings.

I also found out that apparently the dude responsible for the Pokexperto Gen V leak also stated it was Flying on Twitter, too.
I've checked his Twitter account: He only speculated about the type being Flying, and that was weeks ago. Now he's speculating about a Mewtwo Forme. He is just a normal fan; there is no way that he will ever be given privileged information again.

Yep, crow is to be eaten by either side of the debate if Sylveon gets a type reveal.

I don't know how I feel about Sylveon being able to control those ribbons... To me, every eeveelution has 4 limbs and a tail... And sylvee manipulating those things makes it seem more capable than the rest... Stupid issue, I know, but I just can't relinquish that thought from my brain.

It isn't all that different than the way Leafeon rapidly moves its sharp leaf-like tail to slice through things.

Also Vaporeon can literally morph into water, a pretty capable ability as well.

I don't think its ribbons are wings though, but I do think that they are meant to display the idea of "wind" which fits the Flying-type.

How exactly does contracting the ribbons as if they were tentacles represent wind?

The ribbons flutter in the breeze?

There is no breeze in that scene.

It's not like every single instance of wind has to be obvious. It could be slight enough to cause the ribbons to sway and such. *Shrugs*

Well the flowers in the background are moving in the breeze.

It's pretty clear that Sylveon is directly controlling the ribbons; a breeze wouldn't move them around that much.

I really don't think they're going to realistically animate the ribbons in accordance with the breeze, instead they went the short-hand route and simply have them waving about, honestly. The original XY trailer for Sylveon also features leaves blowing around it and there, the ribbons blows far more realistically, probably since it's easier to do wind effects with 3D models as opposed to hand-drawn animation (notice how the CG flowers are blowing in the wind normally).

What's so complicated about doing it accurately?
