So lets say they go for a fairy type, would it be a more of a support type or a more offensive type, perhaps offering some truly out there attacks?

The Sylv- in Sylveon's name sounds very much like Sylph which when I googled, said it is a spirit of Air. This could be a possible clue pointing to it being Flying type.

Not really... you're leaving out the Eon... Esp-eon, Flare-eon Va-poor-eon Jolt-eon... the eon is always distinct... you can't pronounce it sylvan without leaving out the -eon... it could be both but sylph was the first thing that came to mind when I hears the name

Flying seems to be the best bet better than the new type bullshit...

Sylv is similar to Sylvan, that's not really a oppinion, it's a fact.

I truly believe Sylveon is a Dragon type. At first I thought Normal type or even Flying type, but its ears and scarf thingy told me something interesting.
Its ears are blue and red, the two colours which represent the Dragon type. Even more interesting, all eeveelutions have ears matching the type colours!

Except what does the type emblem have to do with it being dragon type? The only one that would match up with is Salamance. No other dragon matches the color scheme of said emblem.

As this point, I'm really thinking flying type. I understand that Sylveon could refer to sylvan as easily as silph, but seeing as sylvans are tree spirits, the only type that would seem to point to is grass, which it's obviously not.

Sylveon obviously comes from Sylvester Stallone, meaning it's a Fighting-type Pokemon.

I HIGHLY doubt it but the first thing that came into my mind when I heard "Sylv" was Silver. So I immediately thought of the Steel type, but like I said before, I highly doubt that. Just pointing it out.

Indeed Apex, but Eevee is a very unlike pokémon and I'm sure it suits it. I mean, come on, that fluffy mammal can be so many things. Those ears, what I said makes some sense, they are blue inside and reddish.

As this point, I'm really thinking flying type. I understand that Sylveon could refer to sylvan as easily as silph, but seeing as sylvans are tree spirits, the only type that would seem to point to is grass, which it's obviously not.

The emphasis is on the fairy/nymph part, anyway. Sylvan creatures live in forests, but they don't necessarily have to do with trees.

Why is Normal type nerf'd? Honestly trying to acquire this pokemon in question as a Flying or Dragon as a eeveelution. It is just attacking the nature of those types.

And when you say Sylv out-loud it sounds nearly identical to Silph doesn't it? Sylph seems to be the most possible basis... Sylveon looks better than Sylpheon just swap the ph for a v... they sojnd very similar
