Naah dude its not only you. Go back a page or two. I was trying to explain to a few people that there's no reason the timeline would be changed. Remakes REPLACE the originals in the timeline.

I'm gonna jump in here with something random, as usual, but I noticed that the Dream World now seems to offer Razz and other berries that were originally used for Pokeblocks. Could this mean that they'll be pimping RSE remakes soon? :D Or am I just grabbing at whatever measly hint I can find? XD

Well, it's because so far, all games that have taken place in the same generation have also taken place roughly at the same time (DPPt take place towards the end of HGSS because of the Red Gyarados being known about towards the start, RSE take place towards the end of FRLG because of the Ruby/Sapphire subplot and not needing the time machine to trade).

Let's look at it this way...

RBY and GSC took place on the Gameboy. Originally this was fine at the time. No conflict... every one was happy.

Then the Gameboy Advanced came out. This was a huge deal at the time especially when RS came out.

Suddenly a huge amount of anger came from the fans. Many asked, "Hey Game Freak, how do we move our pokemon from RBY and GSC, to RS?" Game Freak had no solution and many fans were incredibly angered by this situation. All those awesome level 100 pokemon that the fans had worked so hard on had gone to waste. In RS it was realized that it was near impossible to get Kanto/Johto pokemon and so it became an issue that was never solved.

Later Game Freak had a plan. A Kanto remake so that all the fans could get their hands on the original game once more and would be allowed to move them across to RS and later Emerald as well. The fans were pleased with LG FR and once more able to have access to their once beloved Kanto Pokemon again.

Game Freak then moved with Nintendo onto the DS. GF had learned from their previous mistake and while creating DPPt, they built a program that was capable of taking the pokemon from RSE and FRLG this was exactly what the fans wanted. To cross generations of their old pokemon into the new games so that their hard work was not wasted.

However, although the Kanto issue was solved, the missing Johto pokemon had not been fixed. They then made HG and SS to solve this problem. With these two games created, Game Freak had cleaned up their original mess, and now all the generations were now connected.

Even with BW, all the pokemon from gen 4 may be moved over, with the idea that you may also move over your gen 3 pokemon that had been placed in gen 4 first. The issue that angered fans about gen 1 and 2 had now basically disappeared.

So all in all with this story, what does this tell us about a RSE remake?

Well if you guys don't see it, it tells me that an RSE remake is COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY.

The reason? The Gen 1 and 2 remakes were used to solve a mistake that Game Freak had made in the past when the original Game Boy to Game Boy Advanced transitions occurred.
RSE never had that mistake as Gen 4 was able to transition the pokemon just fine with their cross gen program.
Now see, I'm not saying that a RSE remake will never happen, I'm just saying it's not needed (from GF's point of view). However, you never know, there's always the promise of grabbing a few dollars more with the creation of a remake.
I started playing in Gen4. But I want to play through RSE. The only way right now is to pay a huge amount of money to buy all things needed to play to the fullest.
I'm shure that I am not the only one with this problem. That to my mind is a valid reason to remake RSE on to the ds.

The Time machine wasn't a gimmick, it was the only way to get certain Pokémon in G/S.

And I highly doubt that Genesect would be distributed in July 2014 - nearly four years after Black and White's release. Even if you insist on adhering to "patterns" based on just two generations, the 2014 movie should still focus on a Generation VI Pokémon. I also find it weird that the number of event Pokémon is being used to support the remake theory, when said event Pokémon have nothing to do with Hoenn and would come at the expense of promoting Jirachi and Deoxys if there really were a "one event per movie" rule.

There have been two movie promotions per a movie since 2007. In this generation, something unexpected happened when Victini was revealed and distributed long before its movie debut. As a result, Victini ended up being the secondary movie promotion. Even though Keldeo did not turn out to be the main movie promotion as many had expected, this could be explained by the fact that the Pokémon Company wanted two movie versions based on Black and White. The Zekrom and Reshiram distribution was not pointless to players who only owned one version.

For the next movie, I don't see how it is possible to have two versions again, and Kyurem would be a poor choice for any of the two promotions provided that its signature moves are being reserved for the next Unova game. There is nothing stopping the Pokémon Company from distributing Keldeo via Wi-Fi before the next movie (as they did with Victini), while restricting the signature move (Secret Sword) to the secondary movie promotion. If that happens, it will be possible to use Meloetta for the main promotion, leaving Genesect for 2013.

Those berries serve a different purpose in the Dream World: the Ice Cream scoop mini game. In hypothetical remakes, the berries would be accessible in-game, so the idea of using the Dream World as a pre-cursor to remakes is rather odd.

Actually, Junichi Masuda said that for Generation V, he wants people to encounter mythical Pokémon differently. Hence why we saw Victini almost a full year before its movie was released in cinemas (and months before we found out it was in a movie); and Japan were given Victini a good 3 months before they found out it was in a movie.

Going back to the Ruby/Sapphire remakes. If they are for the 3DS, I sure as heck hope Altering Cave from Emerald returns - with StreetPass enabled (did they even use Altering Cave in Emerald?).

Altering Cave was a complete failure in Emerald. I didn't understand anything of it. A StreetPass feature is a bit gimmicky, in my opinion. I don't know any persons who use the StreetPass, sadly.
I claimed the fabulous Burgh in the Official Claim-A-Character thread, and I claimed Quiver Dance in the Official Claim-A-Move thread.

I don't see the Altering Cave being changed, just better utilised.

I can actually see it still only containing Zubat, but you can unlock Pokémon with their Dream World ability through events.

Actually... Altering Cave would be the perfect place for DW Pokémon to appear in Hoenn, wouldn't it?
