@Silktree: I forgot those Sapphire and Ruby things from there. But, I don't think it never said them being related to the Red/Blue Orbs.
actually, it refers to them "connecting the past"... so would that mean that R/S/E is before FR/LG?

I was referring to the Red and Blue Orbs from HGSS - not the Ruby and Sapphire items from FRLG.
The Braille text is symbolic of Game Freak bringing Generation I to the present via the remakes; the text associated with the Ruby item is even vaguer. It doesn't prove anything about the story because Bill and Celio don't mention anything about time travel.
I really don't consider that whole Embedded Tower thing canon, honestly. I mean, we know there's only one Mewtwo, and you can catch it in FR/LG, but you can still catch it in HG/SS. There's a lot of stuff that happens post-game that doesn't really seem to be g-level canon.
It shouldn't be considered canon that the player characters actually get to capture legendaries, but why wouldn't they meet them? It makes perfect sense that Red would encounter Mewtwo, resulting in Cerulean Cave collapsing (which is still referenced in HGSS); eventually, Mewtwo returned to the cave and undid the damage.
The Embedded Tower involves too many familiar characters (Chuck, Mr. Pokémon and Prof. Oak) not to be considered canon. Again, we haven't been given any reason to assume that May/Brendan captured the Weather trio.
And, even if they DID capture them, nothing prevents them from releasing them.
I was just about to point out the whole Embedded tower story before Silktree came in.
Concerning when R/S/E take place... what can be made of Steven's appearance in HG/SS? He hints that the player looks familiar, similar to how Cynthia found the B/W player similar to Dawn/Lucas. That could mean that Steven has already fought May/Brenden which means that R/S/E has already taken place. He still calls himself the Champion, but I think once you become Champion, you get to keep that title indefinitely.
He was on leave from his job as the Hoenn Champion both in Emerald and HGSS. I think the most sensible assumption is that he asked Wallace to replace him for a few years (he did say in HGSS that he had been gone for some time) so that he could look for stones around the world. When he was defeated by May/Brendan in Emerald, they were battling as two trainers who had entered the Hall of Fame, but none of them was the active Champion. To Steven, the loss didn't mean that he was unworthy to retain his position in the future.
Personally, I hope that by the time Steven returned to Hoenn, Wally had replaced Wallace and had no interest to let Steven take over a title that was no longer rightfully his. Let's just say that Steven is referenced in Black and White as being a stone collector, rather than the Hoenn Champion...
If the remakes turn out to be more of a sequel, then I'd love to have Wally be the Champion.
In a sequel, Wally being Champion would be cool but in a remake, I'd prefer it to be Wallace.
@Karpi: So, kind of what we did to Blue in RB? :O
Bloody awesome.
I was recently thinking of this. As a promotional type thing for the new games, there are anime specials for Max beginning his journey in Hoenn, sometime later. It would show him starting with that Ralts from that one Hoenn episode (almost mimicing Wally here....) or a normal Hoenn starter. It would take us trhough his battle with Roxanne or something.
Brilliant promotional idea, but first it would have to be made known who Max was to younger viewers, by like a video chat with May and him butting in.
IDK but I think it is a pretty cool idea.
As for the games themselves, I hope a huge archipelago is incorperated, something like the Sevii Islands. Assuming this was later in time, (which it probably wouldn't be) the Battle Fronteir facilities could be spread across the islands. In order to advance to the next island a certain streak would need to be achieved, a bit less than a Silver Print, like 14. The first go around, experience points would be given. Along with the reward of advancing to the next island and finding the next hidden facility, the facility that had just been beaten could be rechallenged in a normal Fronteir style.
Well I want an access to other regions... that would be pretty cool
I dont think that's too necessary. Just making Hoenn bigger and deeper all around should be OK, for me anyway.
I think Hoenn and Sinnoh should be related somehow aha
