Wait. Something even cooler just hit me in the forehead...
If they can do a sequel to B&W on DS, why not add a "sequel quest" to MagmaRuby and AquaSapphire? I seem to remember hearing that RSE came up short on the post-game content, so a specifically 3DS-designed bonus stage would ROCK! (I'm sure a lot of more experienced players out there have a zillion reasons why I'm wrong, not the least of which is that the player would have to suffer through the entire original remade game before getting to the new content/sequel...)
Hey, maybe as the sequel quest, the player could encounter the team they haven't encountered before (Magma for AquaSapphire, Aqua for MagmaRuby), and the disbanded team could make a comback, and we'd see both teams fight each other for the fate of the environment itself. In this epic clash, legendary Pokemon from gens IV and V would appear (as well as from I and II), leading to a near Poke-pocalyspe that, stereotypically, the player just barely manages to prevent by the power of his/her friendship with his/her Pokemon. (grins)
I'd buy a 3DS for that one.
Pokemon's jump to the 3DS wouldn't be with Remakes because remakes don't sell as well as a totally new generation. Since many Pokemon fans still don't want to buy a 3DS, it would be best to release a totally new game first, THEN go with remakes. And if remakes came first on the 3DS, you couldn't use any new Pokemon introduced in Gen 6 with it. It would be like if HeartGold and SoulSilver had come out on the DS before Diamond and Pearl.
The problem with sequels for older games is that those stories were designed to be finished, unlike Black and White which were always intended to have sequels. In Ruby, Team Magma was defeated and Groudon was captured. Emerald aleady told the story of Rayquaza, so how could you add to that? Sure, we could expect them to put in extra Pokemon, like how Groudon Kyogre and Rayquaza were added to HG/SS, but that would be as close to a side quest as we'd probably get.
Your "Poke-pocalyspe" would be far too much for one game. It's interesting to think about, but that seems like something they'd only do if they were going to end the franchise.

That's very true, particularly for a remake. Maybe a completely original series set in the previously visited regions? But that's outside the scope of this particular topic that my own topic has been merged into (thanks, Green!)

At this point, I'd prefer remakes in Gen VI because they would definitely be on the 3DS.

100% agree.
Gen 3 Remake Speculation/Clues
I know this thread will probably be deleted, but anyway, in case you didn't know, there is now a big speculative clue for the remakes.
I was looking what was on TV the other day and I saw that Pokemon was on so I turned it on and saw that it was one of the first episodes of the Hoenn saga. EVERY TIME They got to the end of the Johto saga they just started over, NEVER started showing Hoenn. This is the first real non-speculative proof that they are planning something.( or just a coincidence)
Discuss anything you think about the remakes that may come out.

There is still time to release Hoenn remakes in this generation. Black and White were release in 2010, a new generation is most likely to be released in 2014. I don't care much if it will be released on DS or 3DS, although it makes more sense to be released for DS.
I'd rather see Sinnoh remakes on Gen VI.
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
@Mantiz; Why does it make more sense? Why should they be on the DS vs. the 3DS? Im just wondering about your reasoning for this.
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
@PkmnSilver
Because all remakes until now were in the same console as the main games of the generation.
GBA: RSE ~ FRLG
NDS: DPPt ~ HGSS
NDS: BW/B2W2 ~ RSE remakes?
Plus, with exception of Crystal, they never released a game of determined generation in two different consoles. Also, one may argue that Game Boy Color isn't a complete different and new console like 3DS is if compared to NDS. So, I think if they plan to release the remakes still in this generation, it will be for both DS and 3DS. If they don't, it will be for 3DS only in Generation VI. But, I would like to say that they changed a lot of patterns with Black and White 2, so anything is possible.
You may not agree, but is a valid point.
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
I'm tired of seeing Pokemon RPGs on the DS. I say it is time for GF to focus on 3DS games. Gen V has to be getting close to being over, so I say wait a bit longer and release it in Gen VI
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
I don't care to have Hoenn remakes. It's my least favorite generation and I think the original versions are fine. The main reason the remakes for the first two generations were so exciting was because the graphic quality of the originals were severely obsolete to where they are considered horrible now especially the first generation. You can tell they were from the 90's and early 2000's.
Hoenn does not need to have a graphics makeover like that and we certainly do not need 3D. There is too much fuss over it especially in films when it's actually pretty bad for your eyesight and head because it's unnatural. And personally I don't see it as anything special, so the images are standing out on the screen, big deal. Why do we need that? Not to mention the first gen remakes are the same quality as the Hoenn games since they are of the same release time so do they need another remake then?
Besides what would remakes add to the games? Stupid additions to contests like in Sinnoh or stupid marathon race things like the second gen remakes and other such thing that the games don't need? Now I would appreciate a makeover of the Torchic lines move set so that it learns more fighting moves and at levels that match the two gyms we need them for and maybe previous generation pokemon a bit more spread out rather than just in the safari zone(even the first gen remakes have that flaw, they include no second and third gen pokemon). But are those things really worth remakes? What can they really add that's worth while(besides travel to the other regions which the originals didn't even do)?
It seems to me like the only reason people wants Hoenn remakes is just because the other two gens got them.
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
I agree with the user above, we don't need the remakes.
But I am selfish and Hoenn is my third favorite generation, so yeah, I would love to play the games with Gen V graphics and soundfont.
By the way, judging by other generations, Gen V is a bit far from being over.
Also, the Nintendo DS player base is enormous, releasing the remakes for this console wouldn't be bad ($$$) for Nintendo.
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
@Mantiz that argument doesn't make much sense to me. There were more GBA's than DS's when DP came out, more GBC's than GBA's when RS came out, etc. and GF still made a switch.
The 3DS will have gen VI and it has been out too long for Gen V to not be getting close IMO

Well, I'm not so sure about the sequel.
Remakes would avoid the entire explanation of what happened to weather trio, unlike the sequel where people would wonder how come they could catch them in HGSS, yet they're still obtainable in the sequel.
They wouldn't make a sequel to R/S/E, as they would probably avoid the idea of a remake also. I have a idea that maybe it's going to be something else. Close to a remake, but not quite.
Re: Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)
If they do do a remake, they'd could add something to the plot, like FRLG's Sevii Isles plot
