Kind of ironic how the region seems to be based on France, and yet bikes seem to be absent? Of course it's just beta footage. As a klutz who can't roller blade, I personally don't want things to change, but eh.

You know what would be cool? If we could pick our own method of faster transport.

Skateboard, roller skates, running shoes, bike... you get to pick one at the start of the game. It could be a present from your mom, or something.

Irrelevant, but... the skateboard in Kingdom Hearts II was as a fun little way to get around, with the tricks and spins you could do...I'd like that in Pokemon.

I think the bicycle really does have a possibility of being replaced, since it might graphically be more difficult to animate/render than something like roller shoes or a skateboard.

Seriously though, there should be a point where you get to downhill ski.

Wasn't it said that Soul Silver/Heart Gold and Black/White were being developed at around much the same time? It's highly likely that they just never shared that idea between each other.

    This needs to happen.

I want more snowy weather in the Pokemon games in general, actually. I remember it was fun traveling to Snowpoint in that combination of intense snowstorm and amazing music.

I'm all for faster methods of travel, but what I'm really interested in is how surf looks in 3D, I mean in depth. Like the Pikachu that appears in the foresty area? Would the Pokémon be swimming? I hope they really adapt on little touches like that, would be so worthwhile and personal.

They should just axe Fly as an HM (make it a normal TM move), and introduce a quick travel option like in Xenoblade to certain checkpoints. Apart from requiring you to waste a move slot, there's no real penalty when using Fly in the first place to get around, so it wouldn't make things easier or anything.

I know that in generation 2, they wanted to give the characters a skateboard. This was removed for the bike. I would love a skateboard for the character. Then again, the skates would be kind of cool. Kind of 90's-ish.

I think they're just a cosmetic item. I'm actually frustrated that everyone wants to move faster. Why not slow down and take in the scenery? If this game is going to have high-technicaaaal 3D, it had better slow you down so you can actually see what's around you instead of mindlessly rushing to the next town.

I don't know, if the overworld actually ends up looking that choppy and pixelated, I'd rather not look at it much, cause I'd feel disappointed rather than impressed.

I don't think it'll be that bad when actually rendered on the 3DS's little screen. Though it could use some anti-aliasing or something, if the 3DS could handle doing that without lag.

I'm pretty sure the 3DS is poweful enough to handle anti-aliasing. Anyway, we have about 8 months left, so hopefully there will be some impovements by the time the games are released.

Honestly, most 3DS games look pretty bad when they're stretched out like that for videos and such...do we have an Eshop Trailer yet? That will probably look far better when you see it on the 3Ds native resolution.

France has no particular affinity with the bicycle. No more than any other European country. The exception is The Netherlands, where there is a massive cyclist population and many designated cycling routes.

I think the whole skating thing is pretty cool. A nice little change that I'm sure very few (if any) people were expecting. Of course, we don't know if the bike is completely replaced but as others have mentioned regarding the 3D rendering, it would be tricky to pull it off.
