Y'know, with this announcement being international in all, it's quite possible that we could get a simultaneous release (or at least a very close release date.) for all regions, so that could forgo any reason to even bother importing a 3DS.

My expectations of Ruby & Sapphire Remakes being announced have definitely slipped since the broadcast has gone global, it seems logical to release Generation VI for the 3DS before Remakes but then again, they could bring something else to the table.

The way I see it is that it still needs to be recognisable as the protagonist (at the end of the day they're all their own characters), so no stupid Sims 3 type system, but maybe more like Bakugan or DQIX. Literally, just enough to be recognised as the same protagonist, but not too little so the same two designs can bump into eachother.

Oh yeah, I want Secret Bases to serve as your friend's homes. Now, people on your friend list I want to see them in-game in real time when I'm online to talk to them or help them or something. Like Entralink but all the time.

I know exactly what you mean. But also if they do make customizable characters you should be able to change there hairstyles you know nothing too extreme and there hats as well which has been incorporated since Generation 1 as well as the choice to not wear a hat. Oh and there skin tones also but based on real skin tones not like the Sims like you previously mentioned who have like blue and green skin tones available.

I wonder when/if they plan to add the countdown to the announcement page? The countdown seems to have already been created there from the first time the page went up judging by the page's CSS, it just hasn't been activated.

Probably unlikely, I mean, the Unova Legendaries were revealed in the US before they were revealed in Japan, I know there have been Mario games released simultaneously in all regions, but not a Pokemon game, at least not yet though...

You've got a good point there, after all, they only said it was a big announcement, but when you think about it, they didn't say if this was a game or not, I know it likely will be a game or game related, but we don't know what they are really planning.

Ah, but I can wish can I?

I still find it a waste of money to import with localization becoming much faster these days, I can wait a couple months for a release.

Has anyone thought of the idea that this could be an announcement of the Game Boy/GBA games being put onto the 3DS virtual console? I still think its likely a main 3DS game, but there is the slight possibility that they may be hyping something else up like the virtual console.

Given that the various official sites for other languages have a countdown up already, I'm beginning to wonder if that countdown code is for the announcement on the 8th at all. Maybe it's supposed to start after the 8th's announcement- a countdown to the next announcement, perhaps, or until whatever they're announcing here is released.

I don't know if they'll ever release Pokemon games at the same time all over the world, but it's getting closer and closer with each game, it seems. (the English site announced BW when the version mascots were unveiled, BW2 were also announced by the English site around the time the Japanese announced them, and the fact that BW2 came out internationally only 3 1/2 months after Japan is promising... Remember that GS came out in the US more than a year after Japan)

I know much of BW2's case was DS hardware related, and this upcoming news might be 3DS-pushed, but the better synergy among languages seems promising.

You know it didn't even cross my mind until now that you mentioned it but it does seems a bit possible. But I'm still hoping it's Generation 6.

Well would it really be that hard to change those things for Virtual Console? I mean, if you're going to port it why not give us some perks with it?

But of course this is Game Freak and Nintendo, they're lazy enough just to put it up on virtual console with no changes what so ever.

Aren't VC versions of Red and Blue kinda pointless when they can just re-release FireRed and LeafGreen instead, which don't have those compatibility issues?
