It's already the 6th in Japan, so if the announcement is 72 hours away, Japan won't get it until after the 8th and many people will be asleep when the page is updated. I guess that the international website just slacked off.
Re: Game Freak promise to expand the Pokémon world next year If Japan get it on the 8th then that means it will be the 7th for International (if it's in the AM) but it's most likely going to be an afternoon announcement which means it will be gone midnight for most of us Internationally as you've said above.

Yeah, the Pokemon are the focus of a region, but how do they bring forth the continuation of a story? I can't think of any other ways to have a plot-driven Pokemon game other than by incorporating character conflicts and developments, and possibly legendary Pokemon myths being uncovered. The badge quest and the Pokemon alone do not make a sequel stand out as a sequel.
I'm not saying I would prefer remakes. I'm not a proponent of remakes. I would love sequels done right, but RS and DP aren’t even good enough candidates to be prequels, so it would be rather difficult. They'd have to make the sequels completely blow their predecessors out of the water. A Hoenn or Sinnoh sequel is too lackluster of an idea because none of the returning characters would be developed and there would be a poor story continuation (they have no choice since the characters suck, lack complexity, and can’t really be developed), and thus the sequel aspect of it is poorly executed. However, I guess introducing new, interesting characters and villains would solve this problem. The only other issue I have with this notion, though, is that even though B2W2 were poor (or at least brought back down to older standards) sequels, I would prefer for the idea to be kept unique to them instead of following the same pattern third versions have.
By the way, was there ever an announcement countdown similar to this in the past leading up to the release of a new game? 'cause, if not, this is a rather different approach they're taking.
I guess I made myself misunderstood. No, I do not want remakes. I was just denying sequels to past games since they would likely have a lackluster story.

If this isn't the most Promo ever done for an ANNOUNCEMENT of a Pokemon Game, I don't know what it is. Gamefreak is coming for wigs with this Gen, yall better be ready for the ride.

Sequel is a rather loose term. We know from interviews that B2W2 started out as third versions and evolved into sequels, and that shows. There can be more interesting ways to incorporate a previous region into a new story.
