Re: Legendary Pokemon Discussion
I can totally see the Norse mythology theory, especially since this region is likely based on Europe. I bet the bird is either fire or dark Hopefully the second. We have enough fire birds. I have no idea what the stag's type will be. I'm loving both though. They don't really look quite as "Digimon-esqe" as Reshiram and Zekrom.

Oh yes, I really like this. And if the Z legendary is a snake, then we would have a complete trio of Eikþyrnir, Veðrfölnir and Níðhöggr.
Re: Legendary Pokemon Discussion
Yggdrassil plot would be cool. JRPG designers love that trope.

Except Reshiram and Zekrom don't look "Digimon-esqe".

That was a very common complaint when they were first leaked.

The only thing I really saw was people making pictures comparing them to the Red Eyes Black Dragon and Blue Eyes White Dragon or something.

Sorry the pic is so small, but it shows your theory which is a possibility.
Works for the Stag cause of(according to wikipedia) abundant exudation, which is basically a great flow, of water, or the sparkly stuff in its antler. More importantly, that large tree in the background could be the world tree, I know there are many but still there's one that's a bit bigger, and the hawk makes sense. If the 3rd one is a snake though to complete the trio, well then we have our motif! Unfortunately we won't know till much later. :C
I think you hit it right on the nose, especially since a snake could certainly form a z. I could also see flying and normal types here.
Re: Legendary Pokemon Discussion
The bird seems dark/flying to me. I have no clue what the antelope would be... Grass/steel?

That's very fitting, I could definitely see that being the inspiration for them.
So if that's the case then we may get one last dragon (or at least reptillian) legendary for "Pokemon Z" representing Nighoggr.
Re: Legendary Pokemon Discussion
Someone somewhere also mentioned its weird that the Stag's eyes have an X and the Hawk's doesn't. While a good basis for a theory, the Hawk is Y shaped with a Y on it, like the X in the eye. Something tells me we're in for some interesting background stories for these 2.
Re: Legendary Pokemon Discussion
Seeing as both Pokémon and Digimon are in the same genre (or sub-genre) known as the ''Mon genre'', and neither are the only ones populating this niche, I never really saw what was digimon-esque or pokémon-esque about any design, this compariosn should have been dead a long time ago.
Yeah, norse mythology was a great choice, and the next is definetly a snake.
(crossing fingers for a badass wolf based on Fenrir, legendary or not)

And then the snake can be the Z... it's perfect. But then what will be the W? The tree itself, maybe?

Fenrir? Ratatoskr? Hm.. the tree itself could make sense too, I guess. But what would the Pokemon actually be?
I thought of something, maybe Pokemon Y is actually based off of the unnamed eagle which Veðrfölnir sits ontop of?

I can agree with having not so many, but I'd prefer around 7-10, and it's more reasonable, and just one trio this time around... Tornadus, Thundorus and Landorus, Virizion, Terrakion and Cobalion? Why so many? lol, it became jarring.
Re: Legendary Pokemon Discussion
I want that X pokemon now!!

Seriously it's so beautiful. Looks like Virizion's/Cobalion's/Terrakion's mom.
