Thread: Gym Discussion/Speculation

Double type gyms would be iffy at best, and can cause more trouble then they're worth. I mean if you do something like having a specific animal type and having multiple secondary types to go along with a main type sure, a Falkner type gym with winged creatures but having stuff like Xatu, Murkrow, Golbat, Skarmory would be completely awesome and challenging beyond normal levels, but if just mix and match two types it would be awkward.

Like everyone's said, a dark type gym. I also really want the Elite Four to use some more creative types. Pretty much every Elite Four has either Dark, Psychic, or Ghost. It'd be nice not to see any of those. I really liked how the Sinnoh League and Bug, Ground, and Fire users.

I want -

-A Shrine Maiden Gym Leader who specialize in Ghost or Psychic type.

-A Kendo Specialist Steel type Gym Leader.

-A Archery Specialist Grass Gym Leader .

-A Rich-Lady Gym Leader.

-A Young Science Nerd Gym Leader.

There isn't a single one yet!

Pokemon has disappointed us before. I do hope that we get a dark-type gym, but I'm not going to really be surprised if it doesn't happen.

We have plenty of names from the PWT Type expert tournaments that could fit for future gym leaders
Enough for eight gyms, in fact. Though I doubt the game would use all of these types.

Poison - Castor
Ghost - Ferly
Psychic - Delphine
Ground - Homer
Bug - Walter
Dark - Impera or Bonnie (Vito's from Hoenn)
Steel - Margaret
Dragon - Drakon

Fire (Female) Not sure about concept
Ghost (Male) Not sure about concept
Steel (Female) Rich slightly older lady
Ground (Female) Researcher, friends with the doctor
Poison (Male) Clown?
Bug (Female) A kick-*** ranger/explorer
Dark (Male) A creepy mansion-owner

ELITE 4
Rock (Female) Not sure about concept
Flying (Male) Classic aviator
Grass (Male) An old sage, like Spenser
Electric (Female) Not sure about concept

Champion
Normal (Male) Maybe PC's older brother?

I'd prefer if the Elite 4 specialised in strategy as opposed to type. For example, have the Elite 4 use teams based on Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Hail and Sandstorm, with the champion using Trick Room.

Or at the very least, I'd like to see a Grass-type Elite 4 member.

The house that forms in the trailer looks like it will be a Distortion World-like Psychic Gym, with screwed physics. The house that forms also looks like a very stereotypical, almost symmetrical household, so maybe we'll have to investigate it sort of like the Trick House in RSE.

Here's my wishlist/guesses:

Gyms:

1. Fighting (Male maybe?)
2. Bug (Female)
3. Ghost (Male)
4. Psychic (Male)
5. Poison (Female)
6. Normal (either,)
7. Rock/Ground mix (female, females, or male+female) (Maybe with a Triple battle or Double battle?)
8. Dark (either)

Elite Four

1. Steel (Female?)
2. Flying (Male)
3. Grass (Male)
4. Electric maybe? (Female?)

Champion: Fire (Male?)

Other stuff:

A well developed or mysterious character in the story that uses Dragon types. He/She (Same as your character's gender) will be a post game challenge, akin to Steven in Emerald.

The rival will be Diversified, so there's no need for a diversified leader or champ, and they will also be a late game challenge for your last battle with them.

We need a Dark Gym leader, that's violent and threats you with nasty stuff. Like, imagine that you arrive to the city, and the Gym Leader is a boss of criminal gang in the city... They attack you with pokemon outclassing your level, and losing is inevitable...so you respawn at pokecenter and the event never happens again. To beat the Gym Leader you have to go on the journey and train your pokemon, then come back and fight the Leader. After beating him, he notices his wrong, and becomes a better person... But NOPE instead let's just be kind friends and show the things that will never happen to you in RL kids... Oh, it's time to go to school~

Anyway, I want the Gym Leaders to use pokemon from other regions, that's cool when they do that.

As long as the first gym isn't Rock, and the last gym isn't Water or Dragon, I'm OK

A Normal type for the first gym would be OK, even despite it was done in W2. Aside from the Riolu abuse that makes Cheren's gym cheap, it tries to keep the sort of "neutrality" that was given in Gen V, i mean, any of the three starters has the same chances against the first Leader.

In previous generations, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalll the Rock gyms left the Fire starters with disadvantages, being poorly fixed with Metal Claw (FR/LG) and (by now annoying) Fighting second-typing. In Gen II, Chikorita was in disadvantage due to Falkner.

I want to see a Fire Gym too, it's been a while since last time (Chili is a strange special case). Though in the very first trailer there was a room looking like either a Fire Gym or Elite 4.

Aaaand I'd like a Dark Gym, just like everyone else wants.
