Remember when the Pokemon Facebook teased the question "How many Eevee evolutions are there?" back in January right before X/Y was revealed, and a month later we got Sylveon?

Now they're asking how many games Kanto has appeared in. :/

GameFreak should do the Pokémon World Tournament again and give Oak a cameo too.

Sure, but you never know with that Facebook. Everything and anything could be a hint to be honest, so who knows, maybe Kanto is relevant this gen again. Would fit with Sylveon, the Mewtwo appearance in Movie 16, I mean come on just the genetically modified Pokemon VS Genetically Modified Pokemon angle doesn't warrant a movie, and what not.

Thursday they'll upload Pokemon Red and Blue (Green for Japan) onto the Virtual Console. :0

I don't mind the occasional references to Kanto, as it is "The Motherland" of Pokemon. But I will die if we have to go back there in X/Y. Kanto is so overdone, I can't possibly see what would warrant going back there for a third time.

You know, Kanto being in XY or its own game again would make sense if you think about it. Kanto might not be in every generation, but I'm willing to eat crow if its more of an engine stance for having it pop up so often then generations. What I mean is this:
Kanto in gen 1 and 2 makes sense, cause of what they wee going for.
Kanto in Gen 3 brought the region into the future, being the GBA, and allowed for older Pokemon to be obtainable.
Kanto in Gen 4 was obviously thanks to HGSS coming into existence, which was to bring another generation into the future.
The lack of it in gen 5 is likely because the games built from what DP brought to the table already have Kanto, so Kanto appearing yet again in the DP semi 3D style would be mundane, even if some things like a dynamic camera were brought foward with gen 5.
Gen 6 is another major step, and they will likely need to give us an older region to really get the feel of the region introduced more in tune with the older games. Its going to be a very odd feeling shift, and an older region would allow the feel to sink in more deeply.
