Genetic Generation works best for me.

Makes me wonder if Deoxys will have an event or something, because isn't it based off of DNA? I mean, firstly, its name is practically a shortened form of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and three of its forms start with one letter of DNA: Defense, Normal, Attack. Speed is the S on the end of Deoxys. Oh, and its arms sometimes look like DNA double helixes.

How about a simple Letter Generation?

Just to clarify, Bulbagarden (including Pedia) will *not* use "axis generation". Period. The Nazi association is entirely unacceptable.

There are a lot of good names in here that I really like but I'm gonna reserve my decision of preferred choice until we have more info.

    The XYZ Generation.

I personally never hear people mention these names ever, when I first saw them on Bulbapedia I was like "okay?". Are they just made up for fun, or do people actually label them and such?

I agree, maths is evil (:P). But what I was getting at was:

    Y'know...'cos it's on the 3DS...3D goes out...

But yeah, you've made the point clear...also the double helix in the Japanese logo (why aren't they on ours?). Could be a double meaning I guess...or the main meaning, we'll have to wait for the games to come out to see I guess. Still think it's a shame to let a couple of negative connotations ruin something that was completely innocent before (like the manji. Damn Nazis, why did they have to ruin everything? Honestly didn't think about it until you mentioned it), but eh, most people will just call it "Gen VI" anyway.

Or Sexy Generation. XY = Xy = Sexy. Yay. Everyone's happy except the soccer moms. Genetic Generation sounds cool though...alliteration is always fun.

Just wanted to clarify that I in no way suggested it as any connection to the Axis Powers, Axis of Evil or anything like that.

I like the Genetic Generation, or maybe the Nuclear Generation. Chromosome sounds to close to the Monochromatic Generation.

I think the whole "axis" thing is irrelevant anyway, since there's clearly a double helix in the logo.

Chromosome Generation sounds great, although it might not fit in well if it turns out the next release is Z. Honestly, DNA was the first thing that popped into my mind, probably because I'm obsessed with Genetics. A friend of mine keeps insisting it should be about Math, but DNA>Math in my opinion :P

EDIT: Oh, wait, I just remembered Z is a sex chromosome for animals, right? Then Chromosome Gen works fine. Genetic Generation works too, but I don't like it as much because both words are derived from the same word.

I'd say Genetic makes sense as well

Although I must point out that I don't think most people jump to the Axis of Evil when they hear or read the word Axis

What's unacceptable is that Bulbagarden associates a perfectly regular mathematical term with Nazi rather than mathematics.

I'll be honest to say that I'm not particularly in favour of the said moniker after seeing other suggestions. That said, it's irritating to see such forced policies that seem to be based on personal feelings rather than anything valid. Believe me, I understand the concern; but at the same time, I think it's embarrassing to live in 2013 and see people be intimidated by a word because of its misuse by a group of wicked lunatics in the past. What if a future evil group uses the word 'puppy' for something? Will we be forced to say 'young cute dogs' or never refer to puppies again?

I don't make the rules, but as far as I'm concerned the only reason to not use the term 'Axis' is because it doesn't represent Generation VI all that well. I say the term gets normally included in the poll; if people feel it's improper or one reason or another, let their vote show it.

I would have said "dimension generation," but there were hints of DNA and chromosomes in that Pokemon XY trailer. Maybe "genetic" or "chromosome" generation. Of course it depends on the name of the third version.

I don't get why Generation IV is called the 3D Generation anyway. Also, surely now that the first 3DS games are Generation VI, it should be renamed...as it could get confusing (As we often like to use Roman numerals, which are cool).

We associate it with both, because it means both. Axis means a line on a graph. It also means the Japan-Italy-Germany alliance during World War II. Pretending it has only one meaning (or mean more thing more than the other) is either a deliberate lie, or worse, a demonstration of ignorance.

Which is why we're not infracting anyone for suggesting the name (because we know pertinently well they're suggesting it because of the mathematic association, and not because they're nazi supporters), but won't use it ourselves (because we know just as pertinently well that there WILL be people making the Nazi association and being offended by it, and we're not interested in putting up with the consequences of THAT just to satisfy butt-hurt maths fans).

    Live with it.

They didn't coin the fucking term people use the world intern all the time and no one associates it internment camps no one is mad a Brain Age concentration training. People use the name Khan all the time but whatever. I don't get it all but I won't fight.

I guess we could call it dimension gen or the character generation or strike generation (like strikes on a piece of paper) wait why does it need a nickname anyways. I never seen them used.
