My roommate watched Housou while he was eating dinner in Japan, and he told me something about it, in case you wanted to know...
So I'm attempting to make these horrid pancakes for dinnner, when who do I see on TV but Kasumi. Lo and behold, it's Pokemon Stadium (Housou). I don't think I'm going to stop hurting for quite some time to come. Just, just wow...
Kasumi has a this cute red kimono (actually, the Chinese thing, but I have no idea what they're called) and Takeshi, oh my God, he had this lime green suit with a HUGE bow tie that fucking sparkled. They seriously had it sparkling for the whole damn show. They introduced a bunch of clips from the show while bantering back an forth. Takeshi mentioned ladies several times and was rewarded with Kasumi pushing a button which dropped something large and painful on his head. The thing that hurt the most was that they had a goddamn laugh track. It was sooo scary. I cannot describe the amount of hurting.
Of course, Roketto Dan had a little segment. Theirs appeared to be about their top ten favorite entrances/costumes. Unfortunately, they only got to 2 before something behind them blew up. Some of their favorites were, them in kimonos in a hot air balloon, one where they said everything while running, another where they were eating food in a supermarket while an employee yelled at them, and one where they were trapeeze artists.
The hurting was not confined to the show, oh not by any means. The commercials were, obviously, filled with pokemon products. There was one for little pokemon figures that would battle from electronic platforms and store their statistics, which was pretty cool. Several of the characters endorsed it, and guess who shows up at the end of the commercial? Yeah. "Sooonansu!" Hahaha, it was just so random and funny, I had to laugh. I think everyone in the kitchen gave me strange looks.
Back in the show, they read some question from a kid about our fave Jiggles. And so they go into this like history of the exploits of Purin. Not only was it cute, the "Purin!" every ten seconds was both funny and horribly painful. There wa this one clip they kept playing where Satoshi and Tracey came upon this pink buoy while kayaking which turned out to be Purin, causing them to fall all over each other paddling to get away. haha.
And then, oh, and then, what do I see but "Pokemon de English." At this point I might as well have been hitting myself over the head with a frying pan. It was some scene where Kasumi was cooking a meal for Satoshi out in the wilderness. They were trying to teach "Dou shita no?" as "What's the matter?" No problem, but I understood most of the Japanese version of the whole scene and of course the dub said something totally different.
Just when I thought it was over, (as they pull away from the variety stage) they change to live action and I'm wondering if this is a commerical or if Gainax is in fact everywhere. Well, then the karaoke version of Mezase Pokemon Master starts playing and they go to all these elementary school kids singing it. It hurt sooooo much.
And thus ends Pokemon Stadium and the "horrible pain in which I live every daaaay."
