Pokemon Center Promotions & New Merch Announcement Thread

This thread is for posting about new Pokemon Center promotions in Japan, but you may also post about new merchandise promotions in other countries as well!

What are promotions? They can be a wide variety of things, from themed Pokemon Center promotions, to the 7-11 lottery, to McDonald's toys, to a new line of PokeDolls announced.

Here are some examples and more information:

7-11 Movie Lottery



Every summer, 7-11s in Japan do a lottery for movie items that are only available to be won in this lottery! The grand prize is a huge figure of whatever Pokemon is the star of the film. But smaller prizes that are available are straps, plushes, keychains, clearfiles, bags, cups and even toasters!

Pokemon Time



Pokemon Time is a very popular promotion that is runs every year. All of the items are in this cartoony style, designed by Play Set Products exclusively for Japanese Pokemon Centers.

Some examples of Pokemon Center promotions:



The Maggyo promotion was ran in May 2012. All of the items featured Maggyo/Stunfisk, such as slippers, socks, chop stick holders, charms, stickers, plush, pillows, floor mats and many other things! Items from this promotion are fairly scarce now.



Every holiday season, the Pokemon Centers in Japan do a promotion with Christmas themed plushes and other items.



Just like the Christmas promo, they also do one for Halloween!




The Pokemon Center's Cafe promotion was launched on May 28th, 2012, with the theme of the 3 monkeys acting as waiters.

There are many places on the internet to hear about new Pokemon Center promotions, but my favorite place to check is All About Pokemon Figure. They are very up to date and often have plenty of pictures!

Huzzah for this new thread/forum! Anyhoo, I'm gonna post a few things.

Chara Hobby just had a showing a few days ago, showcasing some new Pokemon figures, complementary of Banpresto's Ichiban Kuji.

They are going for release in 2013. They are prize figures though (As Ichiban Kuji always is), so they might become expensive in the aftermarket.

Bunch of new stuff pretty recently announced...it's Pokemon Time once again! This stuff comes out September 3rd! I might have to get that Charizard strap...

Next up, a Lugia promotion!

I think that the Pokedoll is a re-release of the older one from a few years ago, so it'll have the new Pokemon Center tag with the little chibi art of Lugia on it :D Ugh I need ittttt my fave legendary ;~; This stuff comes out September 14th.

And last but not least....BLACK AND WHITE KYUREM POKEDOLLS!!!



UGHHHHH JUST LOOK AT HOW CUTE THEY ARE I don't even collect either of them and I WANT THEM BOTH They are the larger Pokedolls, similar to the Zekrom and Reshiram ones that were released about two years ago.

They will be available on September 22nd!!

Another Halloween campaign without Swoobat in it? :( Blasphemy. Wonder if he gets any Halloween merch before gen 6. Last year there was a clearfile with Woobat (along with other Pokémon), that's really it so far for the bats.

Yeah, I'm disappointed they've neglected them during the Halloween promotions :( I was really hoping for some charms or something. But Litwick is very popular...


One more thing I missed when I was looking at the PokeCen site earlier: sprite promo charms! Kinda sorta. They are small clips that fit on a larger holder and can be put in to a headphone jack. For what? Idk. Protection, and to look cool. They will be made of 173 different Pokemon. I'm assuming the Unova dex and some others, not sure.

Now, we have yet another Pokemon Time Campaign: #4, to be exact.

Some more new stuff! I've been slacking a bit lately mostly due to that I'm broke and I don't want to look at things I can't afford atm

First up, the Nagoya Pokemon Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary! These items will only be available at that Pokemon Center, if I understand correctly (which would make sense.) There is also a mention of a lottery to celebrate the event.

Will be released on October 6th. The Pikachu with the hat and holding the flag is pretty cute :)

It's Christmas promo time already! And it's not even Halloween yet...

Some really cute stuff this year. The Christmas items will be released on October 27th.

Next up, a small school campaign, lots of backpacks and things. The designs are pretty cute!

This stuff will also come out on October 27th.

Last but not least, a Pikachu kitchen promotion.

This stuff is released Setember 20th.

TOMY will replace Jakks in the western world:

TOMY International to produce Pokemon toys outside Japan - PE2K.com

Recently we brought you the news that Jakks Pacific, the current owner of the Pokemon toy license outside Japan, would be dropping the license at the end of the year. Today it has been announced that TOMY International and The Pokemon Company International have signed a multi-year global licensing agreement.

TOMY has been producing Pokemon toys in Japan since 1997, including plush, accessories and the popular “Monster Collection” line of figures. Beginning in 2013, TOMY will be the exclusive holder of the Pokemon toy license outside Asia. Fans expect this change will see a rise in the amount of high quality Pokemon merchandise available outside of Japan.

Amazon and the Pokemon Centers are teaming up to bring you the "Pokemon Store"!: Amazon.co.jp: Pokemon Store
This might make some stuff easier to buy *if* they allow international shipping. Some of my toys say "FOR SALE IN JAPAN ONLY", so I'm a bit worried!

ETA: There are some proxies that can buy from Amazon Japan, but keep in mind of their fees.

All of the Pokemon Center's items have a tag that says "For Sale In Japan Only". It never stopped anyone from buying them in Pokemon Centers and importing them. I'm not sure how this store will work though, I know people that have bought things from Amazon Japan without an issues.

I've been really busy and broke lately so I haven't been keeping up with Pokemon Center stuff as much as I would like to...

But, even though this has been known for a while, it can't hurt to post here too.

There's a TON of Eevee stuff coming out soon.

Everything comes out on November 10th, except for the deck cases, which come out on the 23rd.

Well, yeah, I was only referring to the "Pokemon Store" and importing from it. I do know there are some stores/people that disregard the "JAPAN ONLY" thing or else I wouldn't have many imported Pokemon toys myself. :P

That Eevee promo is nuts. The Giant Eevee lotto is the nuttiest, with only 20 that will be given out. Good luck to Eevee collectors, indeed.
