Considering that every individual human being on this planet has different social desires... yeah, no. A lot of people worry about being alone because it's a legitimate fear. No one wants to be truly alone. One of my coworkers has not had a date in 5 years and he's probably the most depressed person I've ever met for exactly this reason.

Me, I'm also worried about living my life alone, which why I'm very glad I do have someone to share it with.

Evil Figment (7:59:44 PM): Ryuu, however shakily you started, I've got to hand it to you that you earned my respect the hard way.

While it wouldn't be the ideal situation, it wouldn't be so bad as long as I have friends to be around.

I wouldn't be happy, but I know people who are.

My dad's oldest cousin is 65 and she's never been married. And she's pretty happy. She just likes doing things for herself.

Weeeell, it depends on the guy and what he likes to do, I guess. I mean, if he has a lot of friends and activities and/or a really busy job that he's compassionate about, he might not even want or have that much time for marriage (at least a good one) or serious romantic relationships.

Personally, as a woman, I've admittedly been in a relationship or two, but there's a part of me that doesn't mind the idea of being single for awhile (or even for the rest of my life) as long as I can do what I love which is studying history, teaching it, and being social and having fun (sometimes). I don't need to have a lover, in fact, for the moment, I'd rather not have one. I know love and marriage and all those things are good and wonderful but right now I'm just not interested. :)

Haha, I've already been there. It was so depressing, but you learn to live with it eventually. :P
Hell as long as I've got my music, and I can make an impact, it's good.

And chocolate, how the hell you can forget chocolate.

It's impossible, said pride. It's risky, said experience. OU suspect, said Smogon.

People who say they're happy with being single forever are usually the ones who cannot get someone. :P

And then they learn to deal with it. What's your point?

That is a myth. Even if I could get anyone I wanted, I would still refuse it.

And so you're saying that everyone who's ugly enough to never find love is happy with it? :P

How does one cope with it....? Ya do and you don't if you ask me. I've been single for 20 years now and will be 21 this month. I've seen/heard so much bad things about relationships; never had one and yet always getting asked for advice all the same. Nice guys [& girls to] such as me end up getting ignored or hurt before, during, and after a relationship. With all that and the fact of lacking relationship experience all this time, I just feel like I'm not cut for it...and yet part of me still wants one. What is one to do?

We only live once. To avoid such an important human experience would be the tragedy of your life.

You should use it as motivation for social, physical and mental self improvement, rather than accept the idea of not living a full life.

A single life is a lonely life, nobody wants to be lonely. I have an idea of what would happen if I am still single by the time I'm 25, I will probably just give up on life. That gives me 2 and a half years.

Still trying to figure that out. I've pretty always been alone, it sucks. Really wish that would change.
