DAT FACE. So another stationary action shot. Neat. I like the idea, and the overall appeal is pretty nice. I feel the only major issue, as I've mentioned to you already, is that the sound waves look like a spider web. :x If you hadn't explained it, I would have assumed that this was a Whismur trapped in a Spinarak/Joltik web.
Sound is weird to draw. It even sounds weird. HOW DA HECK DO YOU DRAW SOUND? I think the biggest problem here is how flat it is. Sound moves; so to portray sound, you need to portray motion. This can be done typically by either a)directing light or b)directing focus. To direct light, you would paint the area with most intense sound the brightest and gradually darken preceding/following waves. To direct focus, you would paint the area with the most intense sound the clearest, and gradually blur the preceding/following waves.
Whismur himself looks pretty good and accurate. I also see where you've given him some shading. I'd just recommend creating more of a contrast, because I didn't notice it at first. The darkened spaces needed to be more intense.
Also, I totally get that this large volume of sound would blur vision, BUT... remember you are trying to catch a Pokemon with this picture. There are zero details in the background and pretty minimal deets in Whismur. :( Effort matters too, not just skill. There are ways to work around your ideas, just like you've done in Poliwag's scene.
However, I think this image is still enough to squeak by. I feel that just like stories, creativity is super important here too. And you didn't just give us a blurry Whismur, you put some thought behind it. Overall, this makes sense, and looks pretty cute. Significant effort. good job.
Score: 40 - Whismur captured.
