I'd check myself, but my copy of the Viz graphic novel's back in America and that was one of the few chapters I missed from the magazine run.

No, it's one of those volume-only scenes.

All mangakas are exempt from criticism because they work on the story all by themselves. Okay.

Thats why they deserve our respect .
Its not easy to write a whole story .
Finding just new idea isn't enough.
For example , I wanted to write a Pokemon Fanfiction about a boy who suffer his first defect by the hand of a Mysterious girl and decided to travel in order to get stronger.
Or A '' Digimon Adventure 02'' version of Pokemon.
But I can't do anything beside finding new idea.
So , Mangaka should be exempt from all criticism if they overwork in a manga for long time.
Unlike ''you Know Who'' !
Anyway ,
How long it will take for those chapter's English translation hit the mangahere ??

Just because something is hard to make doesn't make the person responsible for making it exempt from criticism.

So, question: How much of what's in this volume is brand new?

Given the reactions of pretty much everyone in this thread, it seems like the HGSS chapters in this volume were never printed in any of the magazines and that all the content in this volume is brand new. But then we get this, from Coronis:

8) The evolution of Gold's Togepi occurred like in the magazines

...which seems to indicate that these chapters aren't brand new after all.

So which is it? Are all the HGSS chapters brand new? Or maybe only the last one ("vs. Arceus IX") is debuting here?

Oh, the Togepi thing was in the magazines, only that it took place in at a different time. It was moved here because the original spot didn't make sense.

Everything else is original.

(To clarify, in the magazines, it went like this. Arceus blew up the Gym, so Gold follows it to the Ruins of Alph. Arceus proceeds to wreck Gold's team, leaving Togepi. Gold realizes that he's an idiot for not trusting Togepi's strength and lets him fight. Double evolution to Togetic and Togekiss. Arceus is attacked, calmed down, and leaves. Gold and Togekiss fly back home.)

So the entire chapter with Togepi evolving was in the magazine, and the two chapters before it and the one after it are brand new? Or was only part of the Togepi chapter printed in the magazines?

Only the evolution scene was in the magazine. It was moved when it was printed in this volume.
