Thread: Pokemon Adventures volume 42

The book is out.

Volume 42 is not the end. But 43 is.

I'm not sure why they lowered our expectations by saying that Volume 42 would be the end (let alone giving us a faux ending two years ago), but I admit that I'm impressed. The antagonists from the first three chapters seem to be working together, but since Lance has reformed, that probably goes for Pryce and Giovanni, as well. Is Sird their common enemy?

I have heard that bookstores in "Japan Towns" and "China Towns" (possibly also "Korea Towns", but that's just my speculations) sometimes have Pokémon manga in their respective language.
Some bookstores (at least Japanese) even offer CoroCoro subscriptions.
According to what I've heard there's at least one bookshop in Japan Town, San Fransisco (possibly Kinokuniya) and one bookshop in China Town, Los Angeles (if I remeber correctly) that offer Pokémon manga.
However, since vol. 42 has only been released in Japanese so far, it's Japanese bookstores that you'll have to turn to.


Kinokuniya has stores all over the US:
Vol. 42 is in stock in New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Costa Mesa (It wouldn't surprise me if you can order it to the other stores as well. And maybe even order books from Kinokuniya stores outside the US so that they arrive to a US Kinokuniya store, but this is of course speculations.)

I thought that the Philippines was a "Chuang Yi only zone" and that except for Australia and New Zealand there are no other countries where one can get both Chuang Yi and Viz Pokémon manga without importing it.

I've been to several bookstores before and have seen Pokemon manga from both Chuang Yi and Viz on the same rack. Considering how the Philippines was a former American colony (Let's not bring Japan into this) and the fact that their influence here is still strong, this shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Going back to the topic, the Platinum and HGSS Chapters are rather short compared to the previous sagas. So, I'm guessing that Kusaka and Yamamoto are trying to catch up since the magazines serializing the manga aren't as much as before...

Chuang Yi can't legally sell Pokémon mangas outside of CY's licensing areas and Viz is no different. I'm pretty sure that if Chuang Yi can't sell their Pokémon mangas to the US, Europe and South Africa, Viz can't sell theirs to CY's licensing areas in Southeast Asia, Australasia and India.
That's why third parties like Kinokuniya and eBay sellers export / import it. For example if you check for Viz Pokémon manga at Kinokuniya's Singaporean website you'll note that the prizes are twice as high as usual. This is probably because they have to import it themselves in smaller bulks instead of using Viz's supply chain.

Still, they're both available here. But VIZ is comparatively more expensive than Chuang Yi's, copies from VIZ cost Php439 ($10.70), while Chuang Yi's cost around Php 315 (7.70). The BW ones cost around half, but they also come in packages. I wonder how long it would take for Chuang Yi to take in and translate HGSS...
