Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
Oh, the events that happen this time.
Re: DP Adventure! Volume 4 review thread
Any translation errors like volume 3 with their weird item and ability names? (and Saturn's sudden femininity but I think that's an understandable mistake given how he was drawn and what he sounds like in Japanese episodes)
Yeah, the bonus chapters don't seem to have much for them. I really hated the Deoxys one since it made no sense (and the Kangaskhan got blown up anyway? I know the implication was that it was just knocked out, but still).
Re: DP Adventure! Volume 4 review thread
The only thing I picked up on is that Hareta refers to Infernape as a "Flame type."
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
Man oh man does that Shaymin story stink.
But HOLY CRAP THAT BATTLE OH MY GOD.
I'm wondering though--where did Mars and Saturn go to this volume? Is that covered in 5? Because it seems odd that Saturn got Azelf, Jupiter got Uxie, and Cyrus got Mesprit. What was Mars doing?
Moreover--THOSE GRUNTS WERE TOUCHING MESPRIT WITH THEIR BARE HANDS. At least Jupiter wore gloves when she touched Uxie.
And ahhhhh...massive continuity error. If Cyrus took in Mitsumi when she was around five (estimate based on visual age), how the hell old was HE? Because that was what, around 12 years ago? He'd have been FIFTEEN YEARS OLD. So unless there was another Galactic leader before him, there's no WAY that's even remotely possible. And yes I know that different variants may have different ages, but seriously--DPA is like the ONE series where he ACTUALLY LOOKS 27. Let's face it, Sugimori art skews more towards 35, the show has him looking around 40, and in Special he looks like he's been dead for a while.
Also another minor mistake--Luxio used Scary Face but it was translated as Intimidate...which is an ABILITY.
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
From what I've gathered, Saturn reappears at the Red Chain machine, just like he does in the games. It would seem Mars is already at the Spear Pillar, possibly, as she's not present at the HQ.
I think Jupiter was only wearing gloves because of their location (Lake Acuity)
As for Cyrus's age, the only thing I can think of is that his age fluctuates in the different canons. It's the only idea I've got.

I'd be willing to buy that for DPA better if he didn't actually LOOK 27 in it.
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
For what it's worth...it appears that this volume is ranked number six on Amazon.com's list of top-sellng manga.
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
Wow, it's actually four now. Thats kinda cool...
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
Oh wow, that's awesome.
Huh. Adventure doesn't even break the top 25, but DPA is all the way up there.

I would hate to see what he looked like at five if that Chibi!Mitsumi was five.
Geez, she looked like she was going to pull out a Death Note or something.
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
Well, it's pretty well known, at least among Galactic fans, that Cyrus=Kira.
...their names anyway. Look it up.
By the way, that reminds me--is there any special significance to the names Hareta and Mitsumi? Because they're not from the games, and I don't know of any trend they form...
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
Jumping in to say that it's difficult to tell since their names aren't written in kanji (for the sake of the young audience who don't have a good grasp of kanji yet). However, considering that Hareta is a pretty uncommon name, it was easier to get a general meaning. So, Hareta usually means 'fine' or 'clear' within context.
I couldn't find a direct meaning for Mitsumi, although there's evidence to suggest that her name implies that she's bright or intelligent (mitsu = bright and mitsuko = bright child).
I only dabble in reading DPA, so I only have a wishy-washy grasp of Hareta and Mitsumi's personalities. Basically, take this post with a grain of salt. :P

This makes sense, as she was a sort of child prodigy trained by Cyrus.
Re: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Volume 4 Review Thread
I'm sorry, but the time frame is STILL making me lol. Because I have this image of teenage Cyrus bringing this kid home and his parents asking if he's taken up babysitting, and as long as he studies six hours a day and gets top grades they'll allow it. Meanwhile he's raising Sociopath Junior under everyone's noses.

Anyone noticed that "MEGATON KICK" mistake there? : D
