Pokémon Adventures Volume 9 Review Thread

I didn't see one, so thought I'd make one.

Today I got my copy of Volume 9 (Which many of you may remember is MATO's last volume as artist). I have to say, I haven't enjoyed a Post-RGB Volume as much as I enjoyed this one.

I really liked how Gold and Silver worked together at The Lake of Rage, although they were still defeated. Red making a return was great, however, if he wanted to turn down the Gym Leader position, why bother with the test?

Also, am I the only one who thought that MATO's art was better in this chapter than volume 8?

also what are Togetaro and Utaro's names?

Togebo and Sudobo.

Well, having not read the original, or Chaung Yi's translation, I can't comment. However, it was a dang good volume.

It's not so much luck as it is obvious, lol. Red's Pokemon nicknames are very easy to translate. Chaun Yi used Vee too IIRC.

Actually they used his japanese name

Vui

Also, look at Eevee's Japanese name - Eievui, in comparison to the English Eevee.

They sound the same too.

EDIT: Eitarou, I have Volume 9 in front of me, and on Page 203, Red clearly says "Vee". It's scan the page if my scanner wasn't all the way upstairs and my laptop would die during the scanning due to a terrible battery. Could DSi-Cam it if you want though.

Would have made more sense if they used Vee to be honest :S

One thing I'm confused with, is, why are there images of Gym Leaders who don't even appear in the volume on the back? Is it only Viz that does this? Blaine and Erika are on the back of this volume...but don't appear, and aren't even mentioned.

He probably meant the CI version. I can vaguely remember them using "Vui." Eh, I dunno. What about Mask of Ice? Did they make him " Iced Mask" or something?

On the issue of Red, I think he took the gym leader test because he did want to become the Viridian one, but then his issue with the frostbite got worse and worse, so he had to turn down the position to go find a cure.
