    Default Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread

    The time has come for volume 11! (Well, 2 days early.)

    Sadly, I don't have the volume yet. So the info here is from the 'Pedia.

    Name changes: Chermaine & Keane now Sham and Carl.

    The chapter titles are as followed:
    * 130: Suddenly Suicune 1
    * 131: Suddenly Suicune 2
    * 132: Suddenly Suicune 3
    * 133: Absolutely Azumarill
    * 134: Hurray for Heracross
    * 135: Lively Larvitar
    * 136: Crossing Crobat
    * 137: Really Raikou & Entirely Entei 1
    * 138: Really Raikou & Entirely Entei 2
    * 139: Raising Raichu
    * 140: Do Si-Do with Dodrio
    * 141: Hello, Lickitung
    * 142: Really Remoraid

    Edits: The slap Cry's mom gives her Absolutely Azumarill in has been edited.

    Honestly, if we were all complaining before because Blue's Pokeboob trick got edited out, now we'll complain a lot more because this was even less necessary. At least, with the previous, the "it's sexual" justification could be given; but when it's a snap-out-of-it slap, in a series where there is already a lot of other violent stuff, then they're just doing it wrong

    ...either way, Chermaine and Keane are still such in my heart As will be Sird, once she gets renamed as well during the FRLG Arc.

    Yeah, physical violence is something seen often. It's not like it is a fight or a punching brawl. The glare just makes it awkward, as Crys and her Pokémon are flinching...over a glare.

    Oh, I have a mighty glare, but even then, it's a little bit... too much in this case

    Even the way Crystal's mom is standing was made awkward after the edit... and Crystal's position... and why grab her cheek after, if she wasn't slapped? Etc.

    Apparently when a human uses Glare it causes flinching

    There's that

    But if a slap is censored

    What about all the violence in the climax of the Ruby & Sappire Chapter?

    Hopefully it's just a parent to child thing...

    I'm guessing it's that. Because y'know, it's not like we've had Zombie Arboks getting cut in half.

    I actually forgot that this volume had come out; so I've just placed my order.

    That Arbok wasn't a zombie...

    I'm wondering

    Does Crys' mom keep her "ee" thing (pyon in the Japanese version) in the version like she does in the Chuang Yi version

    Possessed so it acted like a typical zombie. It's been a while since I've read that volume xD

    This is honestly disappointing and unexpected. I can't really say anything that wouldn't sound redundant, but now I feel a little bit better with not keeping up-to-date with the last two volume releases.

    Yeah, I'm also glad I didn't spend on these recently.

    ...might as well save up and buy the Chuang Yi version off the internet, somewhere (or heck, try to get the Japanese originals at any cost *bothered by Chuang Yi's flipped version*)

    They censored... a slap? Just a mother-to-daughter slap to get her to snap the hell out of a "heat haze?" What would they have done if she'd pulled down her shorts and begun spanking her, or something? Remove the whole scene EToP-style?

    Jesus christ, there's so damn much to say about this that I won't, but let me just mention that in two volumes we have Sabrina walking out of a hot spring with Red inside, and her back's fully visible. Another two volumes and we have Gold's infamous ass-pat, which... all in all make the other hot springs scene and every other scene with Sapphire look pretty fearful. Then, there's Wallace getting near-crippled after his face gets rammed to a boulder...

    Okay, I got my copy of this volume today. When you get up to the point where the slap happens (even without having read the original, or the Chaung Yi version, it's obvious). They replaced it with a glare...but you know what? It works.

    The reason they censored it was obviously because it was a parent-on-child slap, which is a touchy subject (yeah, even when it comes to simple discipline). The glare works just as fine, as it gets across the same message - her Mum was disapproving of the state she was in. Besides, as she's young, she'd take a disapproving glare pretty seriously.

    One thing I am intrigued by, is in Round 134; couldn't they have replaced the Unown spelling out "Ananuke" with "Escape", and the "Houou" with Ho-Oh rather than just having translators notes?

    Overall, I enjoyed this volume. I really got to see a human side to Crys, and it wasn't dwelled on very long. Nice to see Janine actually appearing outside of the games (lol), and it was nice to see Lt. Surge again. Definitely better than the last volume.

    I have to say, the shade of red they used for the Adventures logo, was lovely.

    Wouldn't they just add on a strap, as if she was wearing a bikini top?

    Eh? They still kept the Ananuke part?

    I thought they would've changed instead of doing it lazily like Chuang Yi did

    I expect more steam, or the scene removed entirely
