Re: Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread
That's more wasteful than good, lol. How much money do you think they'd have to pour in making calls to Shogakugan to get their translator (read: eats up cash big time) to inquire Yamamoto's number out of them? Not to mention the guy's got a schedule to adhere to, himself...

You know what I'll do?
Buy the VIZ Version and paste over the edited pages with printouts of the unedited ones. :-p

I'm surprised nobody noticed this. On page 46, the guy now called Carl says the following: Quote:

In this article, it calls the one guy Al. Is that from the Cheung Yi(sp?) version? I haven't read that version in a long time, and i deleted my scans after Viz revived the series here. I'm pretty sure the article should be changed now since viz is going with a different name.

Considering Coronis' translation has it that way (and he adheres to game and Viz names for the most part), I'll go out on a limb and say that was Chuang yi's mistake, just like with Yellow's Pokemon nicknames getting changed in the FRLG arc.
And lol @ the pasting shit.

Sssh, this is the fandom, logic is wasted here.
But Viz did go through that trouble for one panel of Fullmetal Alchemist.
Re: Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread
I read this yesterday and had the unfortunate luck of having one of the pages cut anyone else seen it the page is the one right before chap 140

Really? I heard it was just approved by Arakawa, not that she herself redrew those panels.
Re: Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread
I hope they don't change the R/S arc too much.
Re: Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread
I think even the scene where Sapphire realizes Ruby took her measurements while she was KO'd is more than enough to merit the FCC fist. Never mind the scenes where she strips and puts on Ruby's new clothes.

They will probably get rid of Sapphire's blush and change the translation.
Re: Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread
Yeah, that's what the FCC does. Other series geared toward children and teens that've had things suggestive as a girl undressing in front of a guy, such as Fushigi Yugi or Inuyasha all get the T treatment, and since Vizkids just won't allow that this day and age, they'll have no choice but to censor that shit, really.
At least the DP arc isn't really "WTFTHOSEPARENTSGO" in that sense, it probably doesn't have much room for editing. (Prob'ly)
Re: Pokémon Adventures volume 11 review thread
That means the scene in the FR/LG arc where Giovanni and Silver are trapped in the fire will probably get changed too.

Why would it be changed? It has nothing sexual about it, which makes up for most, if not all, of the things that have gotten the censorhammer.
...but Blue's skirt might be edited to be longer in some scenes where it barely covers anything, not to mention the moment Sird/Saki (which name will she be given, I wonder?) gets half-stripped by the explosion.

Yes, but the idea of a father and his son trapped in a fire might not be something Viz approves of.

I actually consider that the scene was quite heartwarming, and that it displays values that won't be in dissonance with what kids must know and learn (hence why Mufasa's death in the Lion King hasn't been censored in any way, for example; it was a father's sacrifice to protect his son)
