July 2011 "Pocket Monsters Reburst" Review Thread

Note: At the time of this posting, karubiimunomono (the person who is kind enough to post these images) had only posted one page. Now s/he has uploaded a second and I am waiting for the third....and now it's out.

The boy that Ryouga fought was a gatekeeper and I guess he had to win in order to see Zekrom...

But yay! Zekrom finally appears!

Yup. Basically, the boy told Ryouga that if he wants to get through the door that leads to Zekrom, he'll have to beat him and take the key hanging around his neck. During the ensuing battle, both the boy and the key are sent over the edge of the floating island thing they're all on. Ryouga decides to save the boy at the expense of losing the key; this prompts the boy to tell Ryouga that he's passed his test. He then transforms into the key to the door and allows Ryouga to meet Zekrom.

Next week's chapter is going to have a full color title page.

How cliche, but I can't really blame him.

It's nice to see actual human vs human(or key in the shape of a human) combat. I was actually wondering if all fighting would just Burst vs Burst combat since we haven't seen any since chapter 1...

Meh, Ryouga goes through the "Pure Hearted Shounen" test. Yawn.

Maybe next chapter, ol' Zekky will talk to Ryouga about his dad or something, since it was his dad's Burst in the past iirc.

Ryouga is back up. Pointless shipping hints.

And a Carrcosta Burst (Oh god, this is the worst looking out of them all.) He says his name is Zengai.

So finally we get color pictures of Rend, Kharil and Carola there goes her Pan/Simisear burst out the window, looool. I like how the artist colors their hair, it seems...iridescent.

Looks like Zengai the TMNT is yet another GG Burst Warrior. So that's 4 that we know so far? Hildgritz, Kharil, Carola, and Zengai?

What the hell is Yappy laughing at?

Judging by the page he's pointing at, I assume he's on chapter 3. (Yes, they're reading ReBURST volume 1)

Zekrom does a version of the "with great power comes great responsibility" schtick. I kind of LOL'ed.

Later, Zekrom tells Ryouga that if he receives its power, he'll find himself in situations where he'll risk losing either his family or his friends. It then asks Ryouga if he's OK with that. He says that he isn't and tells Zekrom that he wants to become strong enough to defeat them *and* protect the people he cares about. With that, Zekrom grants him its power.

Later, Ryouga and Rend are sparring outside to test Ryouga's new strength. As expected, he's a lot stronger.

Rend has an attack known as "Rolling Stone." :P

Also, Rend gets impaled in the chest all Raditz-style. No idea if he's alive or dead yet.


Finally, I really, really wish Weekly Shounen Sunday would stop putting teenage girls on its cover. It'd be nice to be able to buy the magazine without feeling like some kind of pedophile, y'know?

I love that picture of Miruto being a maid, Yappi laughing like a real Yanappu, and Ryuuga reading the ReBurst Manga. Karora is reminding me too much of Konata.

I don't think Ryuuga would go so far as to kill Rendo even in a friendly sparring match. Besides if he was dying wouldn't Ryuuga help him immediately like he did with the Doryuuzu-Burster?

Rolling Stone would've worked better if Rend was using Roggenrola as his Burst form, though...

I guess if Satoshi Yamamoto's twitter account can be Satoshi_Swalot instead of Marunoom, then I guess Kusude or Tamura know about the Black & English names...

So it's safe to say "It's Super Effective!" then...

That sounds kind of violent for this series, but I'll wait until I see the chapter for myself before judging.

I bet anyone with 10 dollars in fake internet money that the next color spread will have Milt in a bikini, since it's summer an' all. :V

Since Ryouga has a new power-up, I'm guessing he won't have much of a problem with teenage mutant ninja turtle Zengai because of their types. Who knows!

Well ladies, Shonen Sunday as put up chapter 19 for free online viewing. Isn't that nice of them?

So, today's events include...

Ryouga beats the ever loving crap out of Zengai. (See? What did I tell you? He's just fodder)

Ryouga has a new technique. (電撃完波) ライトニングパーヴ "Lightning...Parv? Parve? Pavu?" What does that romanize to? I may be misreading it...

Zengai attack is called Water Laser (水矢線).

Rend has a wife and kids? Well, where were they before?

Rend gives Ryouga his Burst Heart (YES! Let this mean what I think it does!) and they say their goodbyes.
