Basically what @Force Fire; said, but on the real it's a time for mourning those poor innocent little children and adults.

It's so, so sad that this happened. People seemingly forget though that things like this happen everywhere, whether it be in America or Iran, the difference is how much publicity they get.

    rest in peace :(

The first time I heard about was yesterday afternoon and it just really struck me really, really hard. It's just sickening that someone would shoot up a elementary for no real reason ,other than possibly psychological issues, and kill innocent children. I don't know why, but I don't think I've ever been hit so deep by a tragedy like this. It's just traumatizing and I can't seem to get over it. Still today hours later I'm still stuck and saddened about it and it's probably gonna still be on my mind later in the day. My heart and prayers go out the victims, their families and loved ones.

Whoever the bastard that shot up those poor children, should go all the way to the lowest possible circle of Hell. It's one thing for one to kill people, but it's a whole other deal for this guy to not put himself above targeting children.

People keep doing these things because the media, in it's need for 24 hour news coverage, will pick at and analyse every little part of the disaster. Did video games influence him? Did he listen to heavy metal? Was he the quiet kid? But what these news channels don't understand is that they're looking for attention, and they know the country will be looking at him, acknowledging him due to the disaster. If Fox and MSNBC stopped telling us about for the coming weeks then they'd see that these actions are no longer being reported as much, they won't have other killing sprees to worship, and they won't have gunmen to idolise

News channels typically don't report on criminals that got away in a police chase, or successfully robbed a bank. But they do promote stories where the dopey criminal got easily caught by the police. Less people are committing crimes which they see as being unsuccessful, and if we stopped reporting school shoot ups so thoroughly then maybe there would be less influence on fucked up people to shoot children.

Butquite a few MSNBC stopped saying the name of the shooter on the day of the shooting so that he wasn't remembered by it.

Doesn't help that many were falsely giving his name as that of his brother.

    (escuse my french)
They are so damn desperate for first dibs on this story they don't give a damn what they report. Heck it's still happening with this story.

First they said that it was him and then his brother, and now they are saying the mama was'nt a teacher or the mom was a teacher.

That's it. The channels want to be the first to report any new detail, and in that rush they don't even check the facts.

This is relevant to the discussion. A lot of people believed that Morgan Freeman said this until it was confirmed that he didn't. Morgan Freeman Didn’t Make Newtown Statement, Rep Confirms
Though no matter who did, it's still relevant to this situation:

No matter who said it, I agree with completely. The media tends to focus more on the shooters rather than the victims when things like this happen. Though this could change with this shooting after that quote was posted online. This morning the local Fox New station, Fox2, interrupted their broadcast every so often to acknowledge the victims instead of focusing on the gunman. I'm not sure if it was in response to one of the executives or producers seeing the quotes online of if it was out of sheer sympathy that they did. But either way, it's nice that media is finally acknowledging those whose lives were taken instead of the shooter. People magazine also posted a list on their website which has pictures of the victims along with some details about their lives. So if anyone was wanting to know more about them and what they looked like, this is pretty helpful.

They've been doing it for a while. Pretend Morgan Freeman does not have that much influence. He was only God in a movie.

I'm from Danbury and this happened in my neighboring town.. so this hit me hard. Would never believe anything this horrible would happen in Newtown. Even common murders are rare there.

Actually seeing the children's faces was heartbreaking. I can't believe someone could possibly stare at any of those children and harm them, let alone think about doing so.

My heart goes out to all the families affected by this. Such a sad time for this to happen as well, so close to the holidays. Sick world we live in. I was so touched by Obama coming and showing his respects as well.

Oh wow, I just realized that the principle who also died, used to be the assistant principle of the high school I attended till the year that I started there. This is extremely depressing.. can't even think of the words.

Yeah, seeing the faces made it so much harder. This has all been really rough on my mom. She used to teach Kindergarden and is still in education, every time it comes on TV or someone mentions it she starts crying.

My mom used to teach Kindergarten, too. She's a reading specialist now, but I could hardly imagine losing her in something like this. Same goes for my younger brothers, who are 7 and 11.

This, this, this a thousand times this.

I have made it a point to forget that this guy even existed. As I have told many of my co-workers: the victims I will never forget. The shooter I will never remember.
