Question Scottish Independence: Yes or No?

Hi there. I couldn't find an existing thread for this so I decided to create a new one ^^. Anyway I was wondering what other Scots on here thought of Mr Salmond's referendum due to take place in 2014? And what folk from other countries views on this are?

For me I'm not happy with it. There's too many unanswered questions such as; what would our currency be? What would happen to our army? What would happen to the NHS and other aspects of the British Welfare system?

    But what are your views?

I support self determination everywhere, from Abkhazia to Azawad to Transnistria, so obviously I will be voting "yes", though I think the date chosen should have been sooner than 2014.

The currency would probably be either the pound, or we would just adopt the Euro with or without any formal agreements (Montenegro and Kosovo done this with the German mark, then the Euro). Since the SNP are for joining the Euro, there wouldn't be much point in minting a new currency just to replace it a few years later.

Not too sure about what would happen to the NHS though I don't think it would dissapear.

Eurovision will be plagued with another voting bloc.

Alcohol will probably go up to £1 a unit. (It wouldnt surprise me)

But what is stopping the Bank of England turning round and saying: "You want independence? Fine. You aren't using our currency though!"
Also giving the current state of the Euro and the mess that Europe is in, my guess is a lot of people won't want to go down that route.

It is an interesting question that I have thought about a lot, I will admit. As an English person, I feel that the Scottish people do have a right to decide whether or not they want independence from the United Kingdom, just like how I believe that the people of the Falklands and Gibraltar should be the ones to decide who has sovereignty over them. Do I personally support Scottish independence though? I'm unsure. I heard that a government report was made that concluded that Scotland could survive financially, but what changes would there be in both the remaining United Kingdom as well as in Scotland?

Another issue is that the United Kingdom's nuclear warheads are stored in Scotland, with there apparently being no other suitable location for them. What happens to them if Scotland gains independence? I'm personally against nuclear weaponry to begin with, but in the kind of world we are in today, to lose such a massive deterrent could create a dangerous position for the UK.

I hear Salmond wants and independent question on the topic of Devo Max - while Cameron opposes it because he obviously wants to retain some control and Salmond wants it to be an optional thing (although polls suggest most Scots support it), I think that if Scotland wants independence, Devo Max should be a requirement.

I think it shouldn't happen. I'm not Scottish, or even English, but Scotland has been part of the UK for so many years, it would be like Friesland gaining independance from the Netherlands. It just feels weird. Thet have been a part of us for so long, and for them not to be part of us at once... I can't imagine that.

No, because it'll result in war eventually, on the same grounds as before:RELIGION.

The British Isles have a long history of intra-religious wars over which division of Christianity(or Druid) religion is right.

    Why risk it now?

(Personally, I believe the politician who is calling for Scottish independence HAS to have either an ulterior motive( He probably thinks he's some kind of King, Chieftain or Braveheart-type savior), or a ego bigger than Seto Kaiba's.)

Also, if Scotland can be jettisoned, why not Wales, Northern Ireland, the Falklands, Gibraltar, and Sealand?
