Prior to the match I did predict Switzerland to win, but this win was totally undeserved.
Although it was Ecuador player's own fault for wasting that chance in the end.

Late goal, but IMO deserved. I mean Switzerland was anything but top-notch but they were still the better team all-around.

Am really hooked this year, not usually a footy fan myself.

I backed Italy back in 2006 (1/4 Italian) when they won and Netherlands randomly in 2010 (ancient dutch heritage) didnt even know they were a good team, and they stormed to 2nd. Never really back my native England (1/2 English) as I live here and everyone else does, plus they rubbish, and Ireland (1/4 Irish) rarely qualify iirc.

So not quite sure who to back this year, but after that fantastic 5-1 against Spain I am thinking Netherlands again!

Was disapointed for Japan earlier against Ivory Coast. So wanted Team Pika (he's their official mascot) to win and I hate Ivory Coast for insisting on being called Cote D'Ivoire no other country insists on their name being in a language other than English!

No anthems in France v/s Honduras. No La Marseillaise. That's weird.
It's impossible, said pride. It's risky, said experience. OU suspect, yelled Smogon.

Apparently the music system was broken... :/

Damn, this goal line technology. First instance clearly no goal, second instance it was over the line. But funnily enough the commentator here missed this second instance, so he kept on rambling how the goal was awarded despite the technology saying no goal (first instance). At least now he seems to understand the second instance it was over the line.

I don't get the comments about goal line technology, isn't it supposed to help give more accurate results by showing if it went over or not?
What are the apparent problems it is causing?

France vs. Honduras, a pretty historic match actually. From Wikipedia:

The match went down in history for three reasons: (1) it started without the national anthems being played before the kick off (2) with the final whistle came the tenth drawless match from ten, a first since 1934 (3) the game's second goal, coming in the 48th minute, was the first World Cup goal to be awarded with goal-line technology.

An amazing match between Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina really deserved that draw :/ Still, Nigeria and especially Iran won't be getting any points from either Argentina or Bosnia, provided that they maintain the level they showed against each other.

Messi was very disappointing up until his goal (and still, afterwards too). Strangely this doesn't surprise me as Messi has never been top-notch at crucial moments while playing for Argentina. Bosnia was better to look at than I expected, and they surely had deserved the draw.

Argentina are average defensively. If they are trying to rely on their attackers and Messi who doesn't do well on internationals for some reason, they are going to have a hard tie.

If Nigeria can (I think we should) get the win today then we have a decent chance of advancing. Nigeria/Bosnia will be the key match. They have the edge over us but we overcame better teams when we won AFCON so who knows.
Germany/Portugal should be epic but I can't see anything but a Germany win
I'm also predicting USA's terrible Ghana streak to continue

Germany aren't even doing anything extraordinary, they're just their normal selves. But Portugal are baaaaaaad. Like, holy shit they're baaaaaad. I think they might even fail to qualify from the group, although of course, I should see Ghana and USA play first.

Also, it's times like these that make me doubt that Pepe is a top player. Prepare to see some [sarcasm]extraordinary[/sarcasm] (believe me, the guy plays for my team, I know what I'm talking about) defending from Luis Neto in Portugal's matches against Ghana and USA. XD

Germany are crushing Portugal, I knew Germany would win, but I much prefer Portugal and had hoped they would win.

Will be supporting Nigeria against Iran tonight, and then after that I think I'm supporting the awesome USA against Ghana (but I do like Ghana as well #Azonto)
