Gun-totting dad scores hits and misses with YouTube reprimand Anita Li
A lesson in tough love has gone viral, turning a small-town dad into a polarizing parental figure overnight.
Millions of people have now seen Tommy Jordan, the gun-toting father from North Carolina, chastise his teenage daughter — and then shoot her laptop — in a controversial new YouTube video called Facebook Parenting: For the Troubled Teen.
The eight-minute diatribe has attracted 15.2 million hits since Jordan posted it Wednesday.
Response to the video is divided. Some viewers praise Jordan as a “hero,” while others condemn him as “insane.”
“You, sir, are teaching your daughter a valuable life lesson,” writes one YouTube commenter.
“You are actually a horrible parent,” counters another.
But one thing is certain: Jordan’s very public shaming of his 15-year-old daughter Hannah has hit a nerve, triggering discussion about whether such overt punishment — especially via the Internet — is healthy or effective parenting.
