About the flavor text positioning, I don't think it means anything at the moment. I think that it's just a rather clever way of making the story more coherent. I'm not discounting the fact that it could mean something but there aren't too many ideas as to what since it's still really early in the game.
So my opinion is this:
That positioning isn't something serious to be taken about. The mafia targeted Sputnik and she just happened to be a random bomb.
I assumed Sputnik might die off early because she claimed Independent AGAIN right when in the previous game she had been an Indep. Nobody would've trusted her
PHASE LOCKED.

The day was spent in panic.
Kenzan was dead… and to make matters worse, Judai and Asuka had heard a rumor that Ryo was mysteriously murdered. Neither wanted to break the news to Sho, yet…
“I can’t believe… he’s gone.” Asuka said, looking at the ground.
“It’s my fault! I should have gone with him---“
“Sho, it’s not your fault. It’s mine.” Judai interrupted the smaller teen, a look of remorse on his face. “If I hadn’t gone off like that…”
Suddenly, Professor Emi Ayukawa and Yusuke Fujiwara walked in. “We got back the results from the autopsy on Kenzan-san… He was stabbed twice in the back.”
Judai turned his head, seeing that the two came in. “That’s odd. Were the wounds deep or something?”
She shook her head, a look of confusion present. “No… they weren’t. We’ll study some more though. In the meantime, everyone, try to stay inside your dorms.”
“Yes, sensei.”
Fujiwara looked at Judai… seemingly staring at him. Judai noticed and smiled back at him, wondering why he just stood there, gazing at him.
“Fujiwara, what brings you here?” Asuka said, cautiously looking at him.
“…” No response from the teen, he walked out of the room.
Judai extended his hand out as Fujiwara left, saying “Wait, sensei just told us to---- and he’s gone. Well, anyway, let’s all just try to stay safe… okay?”
Night was coming. What would happen now?

I am disappointed at how nobody did anything. I tried getting your attention to do something, vote for somebody, get a reaction out of somebody, but damn, this is going to be very detriminal to us.
I'd like to know who this silencer was.
