The day dawned bright in the Vale, which seemed a contrast to the gloomy faces that every single inhabitant wore. Gardevoir, standing at a podium in the centre of town, waited for other Pokémon to arrive -- she was calling a conference of the Vale's inhabitants every day now, only to be dismissed at dusk. The purpose was to see if they could discover those who were behind it -- at night-time, more conclusive actions were taken; there was now a fatality discovered every night, and, as a result, those who were pro-Vale decided that they'd retort by killing those who they deemed the most suspicious. They had not been successful too far, and it was only driving their spirits further into the ground.

Hopefully that day would signify a change in the Vale's luck. As many creatures congregated, the day's business was to begin.

"You all know why we're here, folks," Gardevoir said simply, her voice breaking. The tragedy of what was happening all around her was affecting her badly. She could barely talk or move these days; it seemed as though much of her willpower had deserted her. It was only a love for the Vale in its entirety that kept her going. "Let's begin the council."
