Who said I was willing to vote myself out? It seems you've just hopped on the safest bandwagon so that you're neither random voting, nor bandwagoning on someone else's random vote. Mine is the easiest bandwagon to fake a reason for, but really it just comes across as "omg he voted himself he must be mafia gaiz!"

Day one usually consists of everyone getting a vote on them from the random voting. I once voted myself on day one so others wouldn't vote me. Someone did vote me though I have to check to see what their alliance was.

Partly, but it's also a technique that seems to be little-known on Bulbagarden called reaction testing. What makes my vote separate from a random vote is I had reasoning behind it - I deliberately did it to see how I would react. I didn't vote myself for some stupid reason like not liking broccoli. Aelita jumping on my bandwagon, in a basic sense, means she's failed the reaction test. Is that reason to vote her? No, not necessarily, but it's something to be wary of for the future.

Read above. Compare this to a game of football/soccer. The main objective is to score a goal, which is on the opposite end of the field. A common misconception in amateur players seems to be that passing the ball backwards is idiotic, because it moves it closer to your own goal (comparisons to voting oneself, as that makes the mafia's win condition closer). However, if there's a huge blockage in the way of passing forward, such as two opposition team-members running at you (comparing to people random voting and getting nowhere), it's a much smarter idea to pass backwards to an unmarked team-member than attempt to "be the hero" as it were and press on forwards, because chances are, you'll lose the ball (lynch a town member) and they'll end up being closer to scoring (mafia closer to winning).
