Court had begun, it was time for fingers to point. With no evidence, it could have been anyone really, so it would have been best to accuse anyone of being guilty. The randomness that was to come in court was to be chaotic. Lack of testimony... lack of anything really.

Phoenicks Wright's best friend, and a pretty dumb, vain guy. You helped him in some of his cases, where you conveniently showed up out of nowhere. Your death by the hands of the GUILTY has upset Phoenicks even more, making him angry enough to make this war. This has made you to be nothing more than a cheap plot device for the hosts to have another excuse to have a war of sorts between the characters.
