No more dreaming of the dead, as if death itself was undone.
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden.
No more dreaming like a girl, so in love, so in love;
No more dreaming like a girl, so in love, so in love!
No more dreaming like a girl, so in love with the wrong world.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
The ringing of the clock was the only thing that sounded across the large, almost empty room where Governor Ross Gardner sat. He came in here often, sitting in a soft wooden chair he had been gifted many years ago, staring out the window and thinking. Far below him, lights from the city blazed and cars rushed around, nobody stopping to look at what was around them. Everyone had places to be and people to see, and none of them stopped to even gaze at their surroundings. Gardner sighed, resting his chin on the palms of his hands as he watched the gray clouds fill the sky and the rain begin to pour down in soft, steady drops. Just a small amount of rain, but still enough to make everything seem gloomy and depressing. In the background, the clock ticked on.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
Slowly, Gardner lifted his head and gazed at a portrait on the wall. It was a blonde woman, perhaps in her mid-thirties, with a head full of curly blonde hair and a bright, upbeat smile. His daughter. His reason for living. He sighed and grasped the handle of his coffee cup, raising the cup to his lips and slowly sipping it. He lowered the glass and frowned, his eyebrows knotting together in confusion. Something tasted off about this drink; it wasn't what he was used to. Was it perhaps a new brand of coffee? He didn't think he had purchased anything different in the past few months, but he was getting old and his memory wasn't as sharp as it used to be. With a defeated shrug, he finished his coffee and sat the empty glass on the small glass table next to him.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
This wasn't a new brand of coffee. Gardner realized this as the world began to spin around him and everything began to fade away into nothingness. He slumped down in his chair, his eyes closing for the last time, and took his last breath. However, his death would not go unnoticed...
It is now Day 1.
This phase will end 9:30 PM EDT on October 21, 2012.
